After months of planning, tuning and tweaking, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of our new HTML5 website builder! This powerful, drag & drop new platform enables you to create amazing websites that are functional, usable, and fully accessible for everyone. Our new HTML 5 website builder brings together two unique qualities: the newest, most advanced technology and the same ease of use that makes nearly 20,000,000 users choose our products.
We created the new HTML5 editor with thought of giving Wix users an ultimate website-building experience with full control over every design element. Here are some of the standout features you’ll find in the new HTML5 editor:

And there’s so much more! Just visit this link, choose an HTML template and see for yourself!
Wix’s new HTML5 editor marks our vision of putting YOU in the driver’s seat – On top of choosing a template, layout and design, you now get to choose the very technology you’d like to build your website with. Flash fans will be able to use our Flash editor just as they have before, and we will keep developing and updating our Flash product. The new HTML5 editor simply means that instead of having a single option, you now have two: two options, two technologies, one satisfied client.
You will find a great selection of HTML5 templates waiting for you on Wix (and we will be adding many more in the coming weeks).
Since this is the first version of the HTML5 editor, we’ll be happy to receive your feedback and suggestions so that we can continue improve this product for you. Please share your Wix HTML sites and your feedback in the comments. Your opinion matters.
Exciting! Is there an easy way to transition my Flash site into a HTML5 site? Or do I need to start from scratch? And upgrade once more? It’ll be nice for the loyal Premium Flash members to get ‘convenient’ or ‘promotional’ rates to for a HTML5 plan.
Hey Kevin!
First of all, you can easily transfer your premium status from the Flash site to the HTML site. Here’s how:
http://www.wix.com/support/main/flash/premium-account/billing-information#Transferring_Your_Package_to_Another_Document
As for the second question, we’re working on an automated solution that will make this possible; however due to the great differences between the technologies it will take several months for us to complete this complex feature. Notice that the files you uploaded to the Flash site are still available for use on the HTML site, which will save you plenty of time.
Cheers!
Wix
This is a GREAT new component! Many will be thrilled.
WOW, you guys really did it this time, I am so impressed. I was just about to do a website make-over and I CAN’T WAIT to try out HTML5 this time!
Totally Stoked, You guys laid out the most user-friendly beautifully designed interface yet, kudos to you and the whole team!
Katrina
This is GREAT news! In digging around and playing with the editor, I did notice that there is no blog functionality, so I am wondering if that will be coming soon?
Also, Will we be able to place sub-menus in pages like the flash sites?
Product looks great, and pretty intuitive interface! Keep up the good work!
J
AMAZING!!! I LOVE IT!
Hi Wix
I just wanted to ask is the HTML 5 better for SEO than the flash was? Will i now be able to get my website to the top of google?
Jess
It even works well out of the box. Kudos.
This is great news! We also would love the ability to automatically convert our flash site to HTML5. Please hurry!
Thanks!
really great news! well done 2 wix! is there any news regarding the greek chars support?
Hi Wix,
Like Kevin, I just checked out the link, and I didn’t clearly see where (or how) I can change a flash site to html? I’m a premium member, but on following that link, missed where it says I can go to do this switch-over?
This is exactly what I was waiting from Wix! Great news!
Hello, I currently have a Flash website with you with a Premium package and my own domain, is it possible to transfer the website onto a HTML variant, without losing my own domain name and my package? I went onto Manage Premium – Package – Transfer, but I don’t wish to Transfer my package I want to transfer the website from flash to HTML. Pls help!
where are files located now in the HTML 5 locator?
This sounds like a fantastic step forward!
If I build my website using your HTML5 builder, is there a way to download my source files?
Thanks for the information,
Ryan
This is amazing, why would anyone hand-code a website ever again? @flyblackbox
Hi – I’d love to make that conversion but I don’t have the time to do it by hand so I’m going to wait for your “automated solution.” Is there anywhere I can put my email address to get notified when that becomes available? I have to be honest and say that I don’t check this blog often – I only saw that you were beginning to offer HTML5 through a Google ad.
I am at work and haven’t had a chance to mess around with the html site builder yet, but has WIX worked out a way for photographers to change the position of pictures in their galleries from the old way where you had to click the arrow 40 to 50 times to get a new picture to the front of the gallery to something more versitile and photographer friendly?
Hi guys,
I feel quite lucky with the new template I decided to customize some 4 hours ago. Little did I know I was suddenly working with HTML 5 instead of Flash (I’m a lay person). I figured it out quite quickly though and already I notice the amazing amount of time it saves me customizing fonts and selecting colors with your predesigned templates! I’m hooked.
At the same time, I’m sad. Why? The entire HTML 5 template gets stuck, as in… it freezes. I have to save my design, log out of the editor, log in again and reload my latest save. It’s really frustrating and I’m not sure if it’s my pc or some startup difficulties on your end.
Could you take a look at it and help me out? As I said, I’m a lay local tv host and journalist from the Netherlands, what do I know about HTML 5 right? Lol.
LOVE the templates btw!
How do i add this to my old welsites? :/ It wont let me.
Great news, but when will it be available for ecommerce sites? Can I create a HTML5 site and add a flash ecommerce page to it?
Hi Carlie! This is the first version of the HTML Editor which means that we’re constantly working on it, adding new features and capabilities. An advanced eCommerce solution is a top priority and is already in development. So, as long as you’re happy with your current Flash eCommerce website we don’t recommend switching over at this point. In about 2 months we’ll be launching new and advanced eCommerce solutions for both Flash and HTML editors, at which point if you wish to transfer the package to an HTML eCommerce website, you’ll be able to do it.
This is awesome!!! Here comes my new website!
What can I say? Thank you, team!!!!
the new wix html looks exciting. how do you undo something though? i am finding the editor a bit glitchy unfortunately and if i move something by accident or make a mistake i want to be able to undo what i did. this should be a pretty normal function to have on the site. undo, redo etc. help!!! :)
Hi Mike! This is the first version of the HTML Editor which means that we’re constantly working on it, adding new features and capabilities. An “undo” option is in our top priority and we’re working on it as we speak :)
it’s great!
I hope that include blogs and boards . Will be the best in the world.

Hi Wix Team! I’m very confuse, the Wix are promoting the brand new HTML5 editor, well… in my curiousity, i clicked with the right button of my mouse over on a template for take a look in source code, and i saw this:
Why the doctype declaration is HTML4? How about that?
Whatever, your team is awesome!
Best Regards,
Rogi
Hi Rogi,
Thanks for the comment. We consulted our tech team. They’ll look into it, but said that the doctype you saw was probably that of the Create page (not of the template itself). The templates all have HTML5 doctype.
Cheers!
Ops, i forget this:
!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd”
Fantastic news about the HTML5 but as yet not editable on the IPad -or am I doing something wrong?
Hey Steve,
Though Wix HTML5 sites are viewable on mobile devices, creating a website is currently possible from PC’s only. Our team of developers is looking into this issue.
Thanks!
Hey Astrid!
Thanks for the feedback! Please contact our support team with any performance issues and add your username: http://wix.com/support/forum

Can we make blogs with HTML5 with Wix
Hi Fèlix,
Not at the moment, but we’ll add the blog feature to the HTML5 editor in the near future.
Thanks for getting in touch!
I’m new into blogging, can i use wix HTML5 to create a blog on wix?If yes, how?I’m asking this question because much emphasy have been made on how to use HTML5 to create a website.
Hi Chuks,
Our blogging feature is currently available on the Flash editor only. We’ll be adding this feature to the HTML5 editor real soon! You can read more about Wix Blogs here:
http://www.wix.com/support/main/flash/wix-editor/blogs/creating-wix-blogs-0
Cheers!
Great news!
Does it support hebrew now?
Does it have a SEO now?
and another Q:
I use my own domain, can i have a google analytics account now?
Where can I access my mail as: info@mydomain.com?
Thanks,
mili
p.s
why don’t you ket all your users know these great news? i saw it by mistake…
Hi Mili,
Thanks for the feedback!
We actually launched quite a big campaign and sent a newsletter to all of our users about this. Maybe you’re not registered to our emails?
Let’s go step by step:
1. You can use Hebrew on the HTML5 editor.
2. All Wix sites – Flash & HTML5 are SEO friendly. Here’s more info on the new editor and SEO: http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/stats-seo
3. Stats from Google Analytics are available for upgraded websites. More info: http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/stats-seo/site-statistics-google-analytics
4. Wix doesn’t provide email registry services at this point. If you’d like to create a customized email address, you need to do this separately. This is one of the features that we’re hoping to integrate soon to our service.
Hope this helps!
I have a client currently focused on PHP code. Can you advise this component with the new html5?
By the way – Fantasic job on the Beta!
Hey Bonnie,
Thanks for the feedback!
What exactly are your client’s needs? The HTML5 editor is simply HTML5 based, and there’s also an option to HTML codes with the HTML widget. However, there’s no direct access to the website’s code.
How do you add a comment box in the html5 editor? i know how to do it in the flash version but there doesn’t seem to be the same options in the html5 version.
Hi Adesh,
You can add a Facebook comment box to your HTML5 site. Just follow these steps:
http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/wix-editor/social-facebook-twitter-google1-and-more/facebook-comments
Please incorporate the UNDO. It is very difficult to work without one.
love it and wanting to do a new site but I can’t find the undo button, my best friend…LOL
Hey jane,
Undo button will be added real soon!
where is the undo-redo button in the new html5 editor from wix?
Hi amere,
We’ll be adding this feature real soon. Thanks for the comment!

Hi, when will be HTML 5 out of beta? There are still some bugs, I am not happy with.
Just to get a rough figure for my planning to transfer my current Flash to HTML5 in the future.
Thank you
Hi Natascha,
We will be releasing many version upgrades and tweaks during the next two months.
Thanks!
Hi there, I really love wix and love it that much more now that you guys have included HTML5. When I heard this I jumped on it and got a little discouraged. I had to get a feel of the text options, video uploads, overall layout, etc. But shortly after a couple of days I jumped back on and created a website that I am extremely proud of and could have not done it without hmtl5. The best thing about it is its social capabilities to be viewed on multiple browsers, phones, etc. However is there a a way to include a component like wordpress (blog) to constantly update content??? Or will it always be static?
Hi Erik,
Thanks for the feedback! This is just the first version of the HTML5 editor and we’re working on adding many more features to it. The Blog feature is already in development and will be added within a few weeks.
Cheers!

Hi there, when will you implement an “undo” or “cancel changes” feature in your HTML5 editor? It is very frustrating to have to close the window and reopen the editor again to go back if you make a change you don’t like.
Hey Mitchell,
We’ll add the Undo button very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the patience.
hi
hello, i have switch my website to a html5 template but yet when i load it i can not view it on my mobile device, isnt the nee html5 sites are viewable on mobile devices? can any1 help me out on this please, cause i love the new html5 but if i can view on mobile its not much use as now everyone is on mobile
Hi amere!
Your HTML5 website should be loading fine on all mobile devices. Please contact our support team with your username and they’ll look into the problem: http://wix.com/support/forum
Thanks!
where did the embed button go?
Love some of the new HTML5 themes! I started making my new site today and will transfer over from my flash site in due course to get a better site on iPads and iPhones, but really need Paypal integration (buttons). When will they be added? Also how long will it be till eCommerce is available in HTML5?
I also agree with above, needs undo and cancel changes – good to know they are coming soon.
This is a tech question of sorts about HTML5…HTML5 newbie here…
So, I created http://www.marcomhandyman.com using the wix HTML5 editor. Since my wix account also had a mobile option, I went ahead and created this too – this previews in a standard browser at http://m.marcomhandyman.com/
My question is: Is the mobile site version not needed because the HTML5 version shows up when I access it on my mobile phone anyway? i.e. is there any value to having both the mobile version as well as the HTML5 version? Would a smart device ever go to my mobile version when just http://www.marcomhandyman.com is accessed?
Thanks much in advance for any insight on this topic!
Hey Shawn,
That’s a great question! We actually recommend users with HTML5 sites to go ahead and create a mobile website as well. The reason is that Wix mobile templates were optimized for mobile devices and will therefore be able to provide a better user experience. Your full HTML5 is viewable on all devices, but is designed mainly for PC’s and laptops.
Hope this helps!
Hi. I designed a website using a Flash template over a year ago. Now I would like to change it to HTML5. Is it possible? Would I have to create the site all over again?
Hi Mariana,
Thanks for the comment.
At the moment, it is not possible to automatically convert an existing Flash site into HTML5. However, the files that you used for the Flash site are still available for use on the HTML5 (in your media library). Also, if you have a premium site, you will be able to transfer the premium status from the Flash site to the HTML5 site with no problem.
Thanks!
Just what I have been waiting for! Will transfering (or re-creating) my current Wix flash site to HTML5 affect my existing SEO…or is everything fine because it will still be attached to my domain name?
Hi Angie,
Thanks for the comment! As long as you keep the same domain name, there shouldn’t be any problem.
Cheers!
I am glad I saw that a blog is in development because I feel that one is essential to my website. I was freaking out when I found out I couldn’t have one, but if all I have to do is be patient. I can do that. I am loving this.
Will there be CMS soon?
Thanks
Hi Debbie,
Please post your request on the Wix Wishlist:
http://www.wix.com/support/forum/html5/all-topics#!storyType=WISHLIST
It’s how we keep track of users’ requests and prioritize them in order of popularity.
Thanks!
Is there a way to crop my images’ thumbnails? I would like more control over what is being shown for the thumbnail (like in the flash editor). Thanks!
Hi Matt,
Thanks for getting in touch. Best you contact our support team and they’ll be able to provide the most accurate answers on this: http://wix.com/support/forum
Cheers!
This looks absolutely perfect. All these tinny details are made with lot of background information and inspiration, both of which we all need, thanks for providing such helpful information here.
thats great i plan on using this for my new business. But it really needs a simple embeded bog function like the flash version. Is this coming any time soon? Or would I be stuck with external links, to my blog?
Hi Micheal,
We will be adding a blog feature to the HTML5 version in the near future. Stick around!
Wix.
How is the blog development going? I haven’t seen anything on it in a while. Is it close?
Hi Darin,
The blog feature on HTML5 will probably not be a part of the next version upgrade, but we are working on it and expect it to be released within several weeks.
Thanks,
Wix
I was really excited to be able to try html5 and have worked for several days trying to update my site (I was going to do this anyway, as it is very out of date). I was glad to see I could return to Wix, since I don’t know coding, and html5 would allow people with apple devices to see my site. But I have had SO MUCH TROUBLE with this interface, I am probably going to abandon my account and hire someone to design a site for me. I am very disappointed. I have had trouble with images on my site growing huge or shrinking very skinny after I have saved my site and return to it later. I have had the site crash repeatedly during the design process. There are many features “yet to be developed.” It’s just not worth the hassle. They shouldn’t have rolled it out so soon–work the bugs out then go public.
Hi Karen,
Thanks for your feedback. You can always contact our support team with any quesiton or problem: http:\\wix.com\support\forum
While the HTML5 editor is still in beta version and therefore not entirely free from bugs, our team has been able to assist users who encounter problems and tackle all major issues so far.
Cheers,

When will there be ecomerce html5
Hi Peter Berry,
This feature is under development. Can’t say exactly when it will be ready for launch, but we’re working on it full throttle. Stay tuned!
Hi –
can i publish a site created with six for free? I already own a domain and have a host.
Thank you
Ma
Hi Ma,
Welcome!
Creating a website and hosting it with Wix is absolutely free. You can just go to Wix.com, have a look at our templates, choose the one that you like and start designing. Your free Wix website will have a web address that looks like: http://www.wix.com/username/sitename
If you want to connect your Wix website to your personal domain name, you will need to purchase an upgrade. You can read more about our premium packages right here: https://premium.wix.com/wix/api/packagePickerView
Cheers!
Hi..ive created an HTML site…i know that Wix doesnt have ecommerce capabilities for html yet…but ive heard from a friend that Flash ecommerce
elements can be added to a html site as a substitute……One…is this true?
…and Two…if so…will our site show up without those flash elements?…on a ipad or something that doesnt show flash?…..And how close is Wix to adding ecommerce to their HTML?…
Hi Andre,
First of all, we just launced PayPal buttons on the HTML5 editor, so you can now sell your products directly on your HTML5 website with a PayPal account.
Now, you can embed a Flash website with eCommerce features into the HTML5 website using the HTML add-on: http://youtu.be/o5K09Vygct8 However, the Flash elements won’t be viewable on devices that don’t support Flash (iPads etc.).
We’re currently working on the eCommerce platform of the HTML5 editor and believe it will be ready within several weeks. It’s too soon to give a definite date though.
Cheers!
Do you have scrolling paragraphs available on HTML5?
Thanks,
Hi Chito,
Please read this forum thread we published about scrollable paragraphs:
http://www.wix.com/support/forum/html5/other/other/can-i-add-a-scroll-bar-to
Cheers!
Hi,
I’ve made a website with a blanc template of Wix.
The grid moved and isn’t in the middle anymore, only one part.
I’ve tried different things, but it seems it doesn’t want to be move back to the centre.
What to do?
Greets,
Kirsten
Hey Kirsten,
Please contact our support team with the link to your website (and screen shots, if you can). They’ll look right into it!
You can post a public or private thread on the Wix Forum and one of our reps will get back to you asap: http://wix.com/support/forum

Hi Wix Team. I would like to convert my present Flash site to the HTML. I have spent the morning (South African time)reading reading reading everything on your Wix site to find out the exact step by step way to do this. Sadly I have come up empty handed.
Flash site conversion – I have premium membership for present Flash site. Now what? What do I do first? and after that that, then what?
Hi Lisa,
This might help: http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/wix-editor/other/exporting-your-wix-flash-site-wix-html-editor#
Please read the explanation carefully before submitting your website for the export process.
BTW, keep in mind that you can easily transfer your premium status from the old Flash site to the new HTML5 site with through Manage Premium in your account.
Cheers!
Shalom Wixis :)
I would like to know if a newsletter widget is currently
developed or it’s only on the wishlist.
That’s a fundamental feature for many users.
thanks
Hey Ophir,
This feature is still in the conceptual level and hasn’t entered development yet, but the Wishlist thread we have for it seems to offer a few workarounds and alternatives that may help:
http://www.wix.com/support/forum/flash/editor/widgets/can-i-create-a-mailing-list
Cheers!
Thanks for he link Wikies, I try those workaround.
maybe another option is to make newsletter widget with those 3th party. I assume they would be happy, and easier for you :)
Hi Ophir,
We’re certainly looking into the option of cooperation with a 3rd-party tool.
Cheers!
I cannot seem to find how to add a blog to my website in this new HTML5 vernon. I am a new user and all explanations I can find don’t’ seem to match up. Help please?
Hi Sarah,
Currently, the blog feature is available on Flash templates only. We’ll be adding it to HTML5 templates in the near future. Stay tuned!
Pinterest a fast growing social network. It their Pin-it button available for use on your HTML? Also has the shopping cart or Pay Pal feature been added to HTML yet?
Thanks.
Hi Cheryl,
We’re still working on a solution for the Pin it button. Stay tuned! As for PayPal – yes! You can find all the details right here:
http://www.wix.com/support/forum/html5/other/other/can-i-add-a-paypal-button-2
Shopping cart and eCommerce will be added very soon.
Cheers,
Wix Blog Team
One more question about the blog. I had a blog associated with my premium flash site, which I have recently switched to HTML. When Wix adds blogs to the HTML sites, will I be able to use the same blog which I have created with my old flash site (now I am using it as free Wix blog without my own domain).
Thanks!
Hey CK,
We will do our best to offer an export tool from the Flash blog to the HTML5 blog, but keep in mind that you will probably need to do some customization and editing.
Cheers!
Wix Blog Team
Flash is not compatible with smart phones and all my clients are on smart phones. I need a way to add a blog to the html5. I keep reading “stay tuned” but we (I’m sure I speak for MANY) are in need of real answers. Is this going to be abailable within the next week, month, few months? I’d hate to scrap all I’ve done up until now, go to another company, only to find out that it’s ready. Please, we need you to be more specific.
Hi Tamie,
Thanks for the comment. We understand the urgency. There are several features that we’re currently working on for HTML5 – like eCommerce, Undo and the blog platform. We don’t have an ETA on the blog feature yet, but you can follow up on it on this forum thread: http://www.wix.com/support/forum/html5/other/other/does-wix-support-blogs-2
We appreciate your patience.
gud work……keep itr up
Do you have any idea what the “near future” means? i NEED the blog feature on HTML5 asap! (maybe before August) :/ will it be available before august? thanks!
Hi Mary,
Sorry, but at this stage we can’t say for sure.
A workaround for this issue would be to create an external blog and then add a link from your website’s homepage to the blog. You can even use the Flash editor to do so, grab the link of the blog and use it on your HTML5 site.
Hope this helps!
Wix Blog Team
Hello. I currently have a wix site using flash. I was able to take the embed code and put it on my own domain. Now I am trying to make an HTML5 site. How do I get the embed code for it? Help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Thomas,
This option has been disabled for HTML5 websites.
Cheers,
