Author and entrepreneur website example

Two images. One message. Romi Neustadt opens her homepage with a rotating hero: a confident headshot on one slide, her latest book cover on the next. In less than ten seconds you know who she is, what she does and how to buy her book.

The white and rose-gold design is unmistakably hers, from the custom logo down to the 'Order Now' call to action. Everything here has been made to do a job.

Author website design

The palette — white space cut through with rose gold and soft pink — does what a good brand palette should: it tells you something about the person before you read a word. The hero slideshow introduces the author, then the book, in that order. That sequence matters. Readers buy from people they feel connected to, and leading with a warm headshot before pushing a title is the kind of small decision that shapes how a site lands.

Below the fold, featured-in logos from Forbes, Fast Company and Inc create immediate credibility for new visitors. The navigation is stripped back to what counts: About, Books, Blog, Work With Me, Contact. No clutter. Each page earns its place.

The writer behind the website

Romi Neustadt's path to author ran through law and then PR before she quit both to build a direct sales business from scratch. The business worked. Her first book, Get Over Your Damn Self, turned that experience into a blueprint for other women in direct sales and earned a Gold Award from the Nonfiction Authors Association. Her second, You Can Have It All, Just Not at the Same Damn Time, came out through Portfolio/Penguin Random House.

Her whole brand is built on the idea that you can design a full life — career, family, health, joy — without blowing it all up to get there. The site reflects that same philosophy. It is organized, purposeful and warm, all at once.

Who this website is a good example for

  • Authors who are also coaches, speakers or consultants. This site handles more than one job without losing focus. If your work extends beyond the books — talks, programs, client work — this is a model for pulling it together into one coherent brand without the homepage becoming a menu.

  • Business and self-help authors. Press logos, a dedicated Work With Me page and a direct 'Order Now' CTA are all working in sync here. New visitors are never more than one scroll away from understanding what Romi does and how to act on it.

  • First-time authors building a site before their debut. The structure here, headshot plus book, bio plus credibility, newsletter plus contact, is a replicable foundation. You don't need ten titles to build a site like this. One clear message and a well-chosen template will get you most of the way there.

Author website design ideas

  • Lead with you, then the book. The headshot comes before the cover in Romi's hero. That order is intentional. Readers who feel like they know an author are far more likely to buy their work. Let your personality land first.

  • Put press logos high, not at the bottom. Most author sites bury their media coverage in a footer or a dedicated press page. This site puts it directly on the homepage, above the scroll. If you have been featured anywhere worth mentioning, that belongs near the top.

  • Separate your books into individual pages. Each title gets its own page with full detail, reader quotes and purchase links. That structure makes the site easier to navigate and gives search engines more to work with. Both of those things compound over time.

  • Write your site in the same voice as your books. There is no gap between how Romi sounds in her writing and how she sounds here. That consistency is not an accident. Your site copy should read like a chapter you would be proud of.
