Professionals experience the same curve with every big technological shift. First, it’s stressful as you adapt. You try new ways of working and hit some bumps in the road. Then, you find a sense of control. Then, comes enjoyment.

I think agencies and professionals are at the point where they’re reaching that enjoyment with advanced website creation.

For a while, the mood was somewhere between stress and the bump. People were scared of what AI meant for their work. Now, I hear something different. They understand what AI means for their business, they know the transformation they need to make, and they want tools that support it.

Today, we’re introducing Wix Studio Two for that moment. Wix Studio Two is an advanced website building platform built on one idea: take the barriers off, but keep the space and the joy of website creation.

What is Wix Studio Two?

Wix Studio Two is the most advanced editor Wix has ever built, and it puts three ways of working in one place: generating with AI, designing on an infinite canvas with pixel-level precision, and working in a standard React code layer for custom components and logic. You move between them as the project needs.

This is the part I'm proudest of, technically. Most AI products give you a very limited canvas, but we set out to do what we believe no one has done yet: complete freedom on the canvas, as if you're drawing, while AI works alongside you.

We didn't stop there. Studio Two ships with around 60 major new features, including advanced animations, variables, site styles, automatic responsiveness and a browser-based VS Code environment. When we put it in front of the people who talk to our top Partners every day, they said everything Partners have been asking for was suddenly there, one after the other after the other.

Wix Studio Two also includes Aria 2.0, the most advanced version of Wix’s AI agent. It can generate and refine designs, create custom components, write code and business logic, and connect data. With Skills, you save your standards and workflows once, and Aria 2.0 applies them to every project. But you stay the creative director.

Essentially we rebuilt how Aria works under the hood. After Wix Harmony launched, we saw a huge volume of real people working with an AI agent, and so we rethought its structure from scratch.

As a result Aria 2.0 is flatter, it fetches whatever capabilities a request needs and runs multiple actions at once. Redesigning a section means understanding your whole site, the context and your taste, and Aria has a heavy-duty designer capability for exactly that. But it doesn't need to fire that up when you just want to line up three buttons. Everything is so much smarter the second time around, and it shows: Aria 2.0 is faster, more precise and more predictable.

Open to the new ways you work

While we were building, we kept seeing Wix Partners post things like: “I wish you could merge Studio with Claude.” Agencies have their own workflows, and they are always finding work-arounds to make them fit.

Now they don’t need to. Start in any AI tool, bring the project into Studio Two, and refine it visually. Export it as a standard React project, keep working in Claude, Codex, Cursor or any IDE, then bring it back. If an enterprise client needs the site hosted in their own environment, export it and deploy it there. If you’d rather have Wix manage it, you can do that too.

The openness goes all the way down to the component level. If something doesn't exist natively in Studio Two, build it on any external platform and import it. There’s no fixed component library holding you back.

How we built Wix Studio Two

When we started building Studio Two this year we felt like we were in the front row of a tsunami. Every day brought a new capability, a new tool. A model we used last week might not be relevant anymore. It was a huge challenge, and the most insane process I’ve been part of.

We had more than a decade of Wix’s website creation expertise to build on, but we rebuilt the foundation. We rewrote core parts of the editor so AI and React could work well with it because AI likes code written a certain way.

The hardest part was full freedom on the canvas, as if you’re drawing, while working alongside AI. Most AI products give you a very limited canvas. Our top partners were with us from early on, and one told me: “I love using AI for complex things that would take me a long time to build or figure out. But I do some things fast, and explaining them to AI takes longer.” We keep finding creative ways to let you edit by hand what AI creates.

What this means for the future of web design

So where does that leave professionals? A client can go and generate a site on their own. But what an agency can do for that client has gotten huge. You’re bringing a much bigger package to the table, and the competition between your client and their competitors is more intense, so there’s more edge to bring.

I don’t think craft is going anywhere. Spend a little time on X (previously Twitter) and you’ll see the battle. On one side: “I haven’t opened Figma in half a year.” On the other: “But I love crafting. Why do I need to choose?”

I don’t think they need to. There’s a lot of talk about efficiency, and now I hear more and more people say: “I enjoy designing. I’m not doing it because I have to. It’s what I love to do.” Explaining your design thinking to AI has become a skill people enjoy developing, too.

Someone in a group recently asked how to tell Claude not to design like Claude, because everything starts to look the same. Everyone’s answer was: “just tell Claude not to design like Claude.” It became a running joke. But people are searching for the things AI doesn’t know how to do yet, and that search is part of the fun.

Everyone is going up a level, in quality, in capabilities, and in the value they bring to clients. What excites me most is what partners will invent. They’re business people as much as designers, always looking for the most efficient, highest-quality way to work. My favorite moments are when a partner shows us a crazy workflow and we say, “wow, you’re incredible.”

Studio Two is rolling out to Wix Partners first, followed by a gradual rollout to all users. Existing Wix Studio sites remain supported. Visit Wix Studio, the advanced website creation platform for pros, to learn more.
