The days are long, the stress is high—and the stakes are even higher. Nevertheless, peak wedding season is the most rewarding of times for wedding-related businesses. As the experts will tell you, there are ways to also manage stress and set your business on the right track. Below, five professionals share their words of wisdom for surviving their busiest time of year. We asked each of them to describe the reality of wedding season in their own words, and to share their best tips. Here’s what they had to say.  Ready to get your business online for wedding season? Learn the basics of how to make a website  or create a website  with Wix today.  Wedding season advice from 5 industry professionals  For DJs, emotional intelligence is a must For wedding planners, decision paralysis is your client’s worst enemy For event rentals, good energy matters (even behind the scenes) For dressmakers and stylists, self-care should never go ignored For photographers and filmmakers, gratitude sharpens focus 01.  For DJs, emotional intelligence is a must Rob Corrall, co-founder and CEO of Second Song , has seen the full range wedding-season emotions. For his team of DJs, musicians and entertainment experts, this time of year calls for quick thinking and high EQ. They're often required to read the room and adjust quickly to keep the energy just right. The reality of wedding season: According to Rob,   “Wedding season is high-stakes and high-reward. Behind the scenes, we’re juggling logistics, rehearsals, gear coordination and vendor timelines—all while making sure our DJs walk in calm, cool and fully prepared. There’s a tremendous amount of emotional energy that goes into each event because we know this isn’t just another party—it’s one of the most meaningful days of our clients’ lives.” What’s something that took you by surprise?  “It’s not really about music—it’s about people. The technical skill matters, but what truly sets a great wedding professional apart is emotional intelligence. You have to be adaptable, intuitive and comfortable navigating all kinds of personalities and last-minute changes. You might be a DJ one moment, a therapist the next and a stage manager five minutes later. That human element is what makes this industry so rewarding—and so challenging.” What keeps you from burning out? “We focus on team culture and systems. We’ve built strong internal processes so our DJs aren’t overloaded, and we rotate teams to keep energy high. Music is what brought us here, but community is what keeps us going. We celebrate wins together, take time to recharge when we can, and remind ourselves that we’re not just providing a service—we’re creating moments people will remember for the rest of their lives.” Top three survival tips:  Prepare before the chaos hits.  “Automate what you can, get your calendars in order, and make sure your internal workflows are watertight by spring.” Protect your energy.  “Schedule recovery days, delegate, and don’t underestimate how draining back-to-back events can be—mentally and physically.” Communicate relentlessly.  “With your team, your vendors, and your clients. Clarity keeps everything moving and reduces the emotional labor that comes with uncertainty.” Top Wix tools:  Wix CRM tools: “We’ve really leaned into Wix’s CRM tools …which have helped us streamline the client experience from the very first interaction.” Dynamic pages: “Dynamic pages allow us to build out personalized content, like individual DJ profiles and location-specific service pages, without needing to recreate layouts each time.” Wix Chat: “We use the Wix Chat  feature extensively to stay close to our clients and offer quick, friendly support. These tools make our site feel more like a concierge than a brochure—and that’s had a huge impact on both conversions and client trust.” 02. For wedding planners, decision paralysis is your client’s worst enemy  With years of experience in wedding planning and floral design, Kristine Shipman-Smith understands how important it is to keep a clear head when things start to get hectic . As founder of Kristine Smith Designs , she provides wedding planning services for couples in San Diego, California and beyond. In her line of work, keeping calm and helping clients weed through the noise is the name of the game.  The reality of wedding season: According to Kristine, “Wedding season is intense—you have to balance a large volume of new client inquiries and onboard new clients for next year's weddings while producing multiple weddings in a compressed time period. It definitely isn't for the faint of heart and requires an incredible attention to detail.”  What’s something that took you by surprise?  “The sheer volume of decisions that couples need to make through the planning process. So many couples face decision paralysis or decision fatigue at one point or another, and it is my job to help lower the stress level so we can continue to make planning progress. It really requires getting to know each and every couple and their personalities to help them navigate so many decisions that can be filled with many different emotions and opinions.”  What keeps you from burning out?  “The sheer joy of each couple having their dream wedding day is a huge payoff for my team. Also, the joy of seeing thousands of tiny decisions made over the course of 6, 12, 18 months’ time come together without a hitch is such a feeling of accomplishment.” Top 3 survival tips: Stay on top of your admin work. “Respond quickly to inquiries...it’s easy to get caught up in producing this year's weddings but we always need to be working on bringing new clients into the workflow.” Set time aside every week for self-care related activities.  “Wedding season is intense and it is easy to get depleted if you don't set aside time to take care of yourself.” Build up your team so you can work on scaling your business . “Each wedding season brings on interns or trainees so you can onboard people with all of the ins and outs of peak wedding season and then in the off season they can start helping you manage some of your other projects and free you up to continue scaling your business.” Top Wix tools: Customization: “I love leveraging the Wix platform for my business and the customizations it allows. I looked at a lot of different website builders before jumping in with Wix and I have never once been disappointed.” Wix App : “One of my favorite features that I enjoy is having website push   notifications on my phone to see all of the visitors to my website and the states or countries that they are from. Sometimes I will even hop onto the chatbot through the app and connect with website visitors in the evenings, which is fun because most of the time people don't realize it is a real person chatting with them.” Wix blog maker  and forms:  “I use Wix blogs consistently as well as forms. These two tools have helped me consistently place high for SEO in Google and streamlined inquiries from couples all over the world.”  Learn more: How to start a wedding blog 03. For event rentals, good energy matters (even behind the scenes) Anna Blecker, co-founder of Feature Booth , knows that what happens out of sight can impact the guest experience. Even in the photo booth business, maintaining a positive team culture makes all the difference . It’s what keeps everyone motivated, energized and feeling creative, so both the product and services they offer continue to stand out. The reality of wedding season: According to Anna, “Wedding season is electric—but also a bit of a whirlwind. While guests are striking poses and grabbing printouts, our team is racing to make sure every cable is in place, the lighting is just right and the backdrop is stain-free. There’s a ton of unseen prep that goes into making each moment feel spontaneous. What clients don’t see are the 7 a.m. pickups, the late-night gear returns and the constant double-checks behind the scenes. But we love it—there’s nothing more satisfying than watching a room light up because of something we created.” What’s something that took you by surprise? “Photo booths are way more emotional than expected. We thought we were just providing fun—turns out, we’re capturing once-in-a-lifetime memories. We’ve seen grandparents take their first-ever selfie, friend groups reunite after years apart and couples burst into laughter seconds before walking into their reception. The booth becomes a kind of memory capsule, and we’ve learned just how meaningful these moments are to our clients.” What keeps you from burning out? “We stay inspired by constantly evolving—new backdrops, new designs, new ways to wow people. When the work feels creative, it’s energizing. We also try to build a team culture that’s fun, supportive and collaborative. There’s always music playing in the warehouse, snacks on hand and someone testing out a new prop or effect. We’re serious about quality, but we keep the vibe light—that balance helps us stay sharp and avoid burnout.” Top 3 survival tips:  Build your systems before you’re slammed.  “A good checklist is worth its weight in gold when you’re running from event to event.” Know your limits.  “Don’t say yes to everything—saying no (or not right now) can help you stay consistent and protect your team’s well-being.” Make time for creative resets.  “Even in the busiest moments, play with new designs, props, or tech. Keeping things fresh helps you—and your clients—stay excited.” Top Wix tools:  Wix dynamic pages: “Wix’s dynamic content tools have been a game-changer. We showcase different booth styles, add-ons, and event types without needing to reinvent the wheel every time.” Wix’s blogging   and SEO features :  “The blog and SEO tools have also helped us show up in search results when couples are planning and vendors are browsing.” Wix form builder  and automated workflows: “These keep our client onboarding clean and easy. Everything lives in one place, which keeps our small team running like a big one.” 04. For dressmakers and stylists, self-care should never go ignored As founder and CEO of AT ROMANCE , May Leong feels the heat long before the Big Day arrives. When wedding season’s in full swing, she and her team often face tight deadlines and big expectations to turn every bride’s vision into reality. The only way to stay sane, according to May: find ways to recharge and fill your own cup. The reality of wedding season: According to May,   “There’s a lot of coordination, last-minute changes and problem-solving happening quietly in the background. Emotions can run high...not just for couples, but for vendors too. We’re juggling logistics, creative decisions and the responsibility of making someone’s dream day come to life. Clients often only see the polished result, not the 2 a.m. emails, the gown steaming at sunrise or the silent teamwork that holds everything together.” What’s something that took you by surprise?  “We're not just providing a service. We’re part of a once-in-a-lifetime moment. That level of emotional connection is beautiful but also takes more energy than I anticipated.” What keeps you from burning out? “Seeing the joy on our clients’ faces and knowing that we played a part in one of the most memorable days of their lives is incredibly fulfilling. But balance is key—I’ve learned to build small breaks into my week, even if it’s just a walk or a coffee in silence.”  Top 3 survival tips:  Plan ahead, but stay flexible. “No matter how well you prepare, something will always change last-minute. Being adaptable is key.” Protect your energy. “Schedule time to rest and recharge. You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Build a solid team.  “Having a reliable, positive team around you makes all the difference. Trust and communication are your best friends during stressful weekends.” Top Wix tools:  Wix Bookings: “ Wix's Booking system  has been very helpful. It allows clients to see real-time availability and book appointments without back-and-forth emails.” 05. For photographers and filmmakers, gratitude sharpens focus  Addie Julian, client coordinator of Dekony Visuals , knows how easy it is to get swept up in the daily slog of work. But one thing Addie’s team of photographers and filmmakers aim to never lose sight of is just how personal—and creatively fulfilling—the wedding world can be. For them, the right mindset is what keeps everything moving forward.  The reality of wedding season:  According to Addie, “Wedding season is a rush. A fantastic whirlwind. Energies are always running high, days are long and sleep is a bit harder to find. Each wedding is an opportunity to do what we love (create art), and nothing is more satisfying than that. Connecting both personally and creatively with a couple is a very important part of weddings for us. We always say that by the end of each wedding, we and the couple feel like old friends, and that is something we truly cherish. Being able to experience that over and over again is what makes wedding season so special, and worth the lack of sleep.” What’s something that took you by surprise?  “All of the backend work that comes with working weddings. Being a part of someone's wedding is so much more than just showing up and shooting. From managing inquiries in an efficient and welcoming way, to ensuring the contract and paperwork are correct and accounted for—to balancing a schedule of calls, shoots, editing and everything else—there is so much more that happens than just what you see on wedding day.”  What keeps you from burning out?  “We consider ourselves creatives first and foremost, so that creative fire is always burning. Going into a wedding is like standing before a blank canvas as a painter with every color paint imaginable at your fingertips. The ability to make art with our couples and flex that creative muscle is always what keeps us motivated.” Top 3 survival tips: Always remind yourself of the importance of the day.  “Someone is entrusting you with their most special day and that allows you to make a living on your art. Practice gratitude for where you are and where you're going—it’s one of the best ways to stay grounded during the chaos of peak season.” Make sure you're taking care of yourself.  “It's so easy to be sucked into the rush, that sometimes you need to intentionally step back and put your own care first. Go outside, take a walk, have a snack or make sure you're drinking enough water. Set aside 20 minutes that are just for you, no matter how busy the day gets.” Have pre-determined systems in place.  “This can be anything from how you'll handle storing and reviewing your content post-wedding, to how you'll manage the inquiries while wedding season is in full swing. Having tried-and-tested workflows in place will help you avoid falling behind.” Top Wix tools:  Custom forms: “We direct our potential clients to submit their inquiries through our website. Having the customizable contact form is important for us to gather information that we need, and having inquiries that are able to flow in consistently with the materials we need provides great value to our business.” Read also:  Best event website builders 27 common types of websites  How one man popped the question with a Netflix-inspired Wix site Wedding website examples

These can add an extra layer of interactivity and engagement for visitors. 07. Add a contact page Don't forget to build a contact page in your portfolio. You can also write background knowledge or stories behind the creation of each piece. Set up secure payment options Select a platform that offers secure ways to accept payments online . Constructive criticism from knowledgeable sources can be invaluable for refining and enhancing your portfolio. Additionally, they might offer tips on how to present your work in a more compelling way or suggest pieces to include that better highlight your skills. Don’t hesitate to ask questions during the review process to fully understand their feedback and make the most out of the experience. Remember, every critique is an opportunity to learn and grow as an artist. 10. Edit your art portfolio over time Your portfolio should adapt as your artistic style evolves and grows. What common mistakes do people often make when creating a portfolio, that I should avoid? Creating a portfolio for the first time can be a little daunting and it’s easy to make mistakes that might prevent your portfolio from accurately reflecting your skills, talents and expertise. One of the most common mistakes is including everything you’ve ever worked on, rather than choosing your best pieces. A cluttered portfolio makes it hard for people to see your strengths. This also means carefully choosing work that reflects the range of skills or experience that you have. Focus on quality over quantity—choose pieces that showcase your skills and align with the type of opportunities you want. Another mistake is not tailoring your portfolio to your audience. If you’re applying for different roles or projects, tweak your portfolio to highlight relevant skills and projects. Very general portfolios can feel impersonal and fail to make an impact. Avoid neglecting the narrative. Your portfolio isn’t just a collection of work; it’s your story. Explain the context behind each piece—what problem you solved, your thought process and the outcome. This makes your work and you much more relatable. Lastly, don’t forget to focus on building a professional presentation — both in terms of how it looks and works. Broken links, typos or clunky navigation can ruin a great portfolio. Test it thoroughly and seek feedback from others. Remember, your portfolio represents you—make it authentic. Let your personality shine through. Define your message First and foremost, ask yourself why you’re creating a personal website. Determining your goals will help you figure out everything else, like which content to include and how to structure your site to best serve your purpose. To focus your inward search, here are a few questions you should consider before building your website: How do I want to be perceived by fellow colleagues, future collaborators, and potential employers? What skills or characteristics do I have that set me apart from others in my field? What am I hoping my personal website will help me achieve? Take your time mulling over these questions, as they’ll act as your guide once you get going with the actual creation of your website. In fact, your answers are the foundations of your personal branding - the thing that distinguishes you from others. A clear brand identity will ensure a cohesive and well thought-out message throughout all of your online assets. 02. You can look up people from your industry that you admire to see what kind of content they share on their website. We also recommend checking out these professionally designed personal website examples , resume website examples , as well as these portfolio website templates . Have they added a powerful mission statement? Perhaps you spotted a color scheme that matches your personal brand? Expert tip from Anna Suntsov, Blog and Social Design Team Lead at Wix.com : "The most important thing before building a website is good research. Know what you want to do and collect good inspirations that will contribute to your design." Write down your findings and save relevant screenshots in a folder. This way, you’ll be able to refer back to them when creating your resume or website. 03. Learn more: How to make a website with AI 04. Add your own content At this point, you should have a clear idea of why you’re creating a personal website. Now that you’ve chosen a template to get you started, it’s time to consider the how. Expert tip from Dafna Rabin, Template Design Team Lead at Wix.com: "Once you pick the the right layout or the right template for you, I think it's really important and a lot of time users don't really do it, is to first make sure you customize all the content. Don't leave unrelated images or unrelated paragraphs. Really think about the flow of the content of the story that you want to tell your users." While some things are best achieved spontaneously, building a website from scratch is not one of them. Before you find yourself knee-deep in web design , identify which content your personal website requires. Grab a pen and paper, and make a list of all the content your site should contain. This will vary depending on your area of expertise and the type of site you’re creating. However, here are a few elements that almost every personal website should include: Homepage : Your homepage is likely to be the first page on your site that visitors see. To make a positive first impression, strive to perfect your homepage design. Clearly communicate who you are and what you do with a strong mission statement and an eye-catching design. Bio : Your bio can take the form of a short personal introduction on your homepage, or you can create a dedicated ‘About’ page. Your bio should highlight your professional career, but don’t be afraid to also express your unique personality by sharing additional hobbies and interests. If you’re creating a resume website , consider adding a downloadable version of your CV. Your best work : Your personal website can serve as an online portfolio that showcases your scope of work. Alternatively, you can include samples of your work and link to external pages. Make sure to curate your portfolio so that you’re only sharing the pieces you’re proudest of. Even if you don’t operate in a visual field, like design or photography, you can find ways to showcase your work online. For example, if you’re in marketing, share the stories behind your most successful campaigns, highlighting your role and the end results. If you’re a journalist, mention publications you’ve written for and link to your articles. Images and videos : Even if you’re not looking to create an illustration or artist portfolio website , visual aid is always a good idea. Incorporating a photo of yourself will craft a more personal atmosphere and make you seem relatable. For an added sense of professionalism, consider including images or videos of yourself engaging in your line of work. This could be anything from you speaking at a conference, performing on stage if you're creating an actor website, sitting at your desk in an office environment, and more. Blog : Creating a blog is a great way to share your knowledge and provide valuable insights about your field. It will also demonstrate your level of expertise and writing abilities to potential employers. You can write about anything from industry updates to an obstacle you personally experienced in your career and more. If you're going for an even more personal route, a blog can be an amazing addition to a fan website or even a memorial website . Expert tip from Hanna Kimelblatt, Blogger and Growth Marketing Expert at Wix .com: "Just as important as what your audience wants to read, it’s finding a topic you enjoy writing about. Blogging can be one of the most fun activities you can do, but it could also feel like a chore if you’re not passionate about its content. Turning something you love and know a lot about into blog posts is a great strategy to attract readers: they’ll come for the knowledge, but they’ll stay for your authentic outlook and first-hand experiences." Testimonials : Adding quotes from people you’ve worked with in the past is a great way to prove your skills and improve credibility. Try encouraging people to write substantial testimonials that highlight specific qualities of yours, rather than simply stressing how wonderful you are. While this may be true, over-the-top bragging can end up sounding fake and having the opposite effect of what you’re looking to achieve. Testimonials also work well in graphic design resume websites , so remember to include those that are relevant and positive. Contact : If your site visitors can’t contact you, all your hard work will amount to nothing. Include all the relevant contact info in a highly visible spot, and add a social bar with links to platforms such as LinkedIn and YouTube. Once you have all your content prepared, add the relevant pages to your site . Tie them all together using a website menu that will enable visitors to fluidly navigate through your pages. You'll also need to consider if you're going to opt for static or dynamic web pages. On static pages the content stays the same, regardless of the user. On dynamic pages, in contract, the content can change according to the type of user, their location or their past known behavior on a site. If you're not sure at this stage, be sure to opt for a CMS that gives options for both when making a personal website. Learn more: How to vibe code a website 05. Customize your design The design of your website is just as important as the content itself. If it doesn’t look the part, visitors are likely to click away from your site without giving your valuable content a second chance. Other than picking an expertly designed template that resonates with you and your personal brand identity , make sure your website has a clearly defined visual language. This means that every part of your website, from the call-to-action buttons to the footer, should be cohesive in terms of tone and style. Here are the elements to take into account: Color scheme : Colors have a huge impact on mood and tone. Look into color psychology to pick a selection of colors that evoke the right sensation. Are you dynamic and energetic? Calm and sophisticated? To try out different combinations and ensure an aesthetic result, use an online color palette generator tool. Font choice : Similarly to colors, typography also has a part to play in conveying different moods and feelings. To choose the best fonts for your website, browse other websites for inspiration and get a feel for which type of font suits your brand. The resume website templates on Wix already come complete with sophisticated font pairings. Website layout : Ideally, you’ll have already picked a template that accommodates your content, so you won’t have to adapt the layout of each page too much. Browse the most common website layouts and adopt the ones that suit your content the best. For example, a split screen layout could give you the chance to share an image alongside text on the top fold of your website’s homepage. Alternatively, if your site is highly visual, a fullscreen image layout might suit you better, as it will put the spotlight on an image of your choice. Logo : Your logo is an essential part of your branding. If you don’t have one already, we recommend creating your own logo and adding it to your website in strategic places, such as your website menu. Don't forget to plan your favicon too - that little icon in the corner of web browsers when you type in a website url. Expert tip from Yaya Aaronsohn, Head of Brand Maker at Wix.com: "A truly successful logo goes beyond just imagery; it tells a story that deeply connects with its audience. Crafting such a logo involves blending elements that reflect the brand's identity, appeal to its target audience, and embrace modern design trends." Waste no time and create your site from start to finish with Wix's website builder . 06. Make sure you’re mobile-friendly With more and more internet traffic coming from mobile phones, the best websites should look pixel-perfect on every device. In addition, since Google introduced mobile-first indexing, websites are ranked on search engine results predominantly according to their mobile versions. When creating a website with Wix, the mobile editor will automatically optimize your design for both desktop and mobile. If you want to make any further changes, you can tweak the design, making sure that your text is still highly legible and that visitors can easily navigate through your personal website. If you’re creating your website with Wix Studio , an advanced creation platform from Wix, you’ll have complete control over breakpoints. This means that you can see and design your responsive website at any viewport size, using intuitive drag-and-drop on a flexible new canvas. Once you've designed your site for mobile, be sure to manage it from a mobile app also, for greater convenience and control while on the go. The Wix mobile app was built for just this purpose. 07. Optimize for SEO There are many ways to promote your site, from social media to email marketing tools . However, preparing your site for search engines is something you can - and should - do in the early stages of creating your personal website. There are a number of search engine optimization (SEO) tips that can help improve your ranking on search engines. For example, you should find the right keywords for your website and focus on them throughout your written content, plus pick a domain name (and later your subdomains ) that shows Google what your site is about. Expert tip from Idan Cohen, SEO Growth Specialist at Wix.com: Effective keyword research is a nuanced process of refinement and expansion. Start by eliminating irrelevant topics to focus on core themes with high relevance and demand. Then, delve deeply into these topics to uncover nuances in keyword types, user intents, and search queries. This detailed understanding allows for a more targeted and strategic content approach, maximizing the effectiveness of your SEO efforts. To make sure you’ve covered all your bases, we recommend using the Wix SEO Wiz . From writing alt text for your images to indexing your site on Google, this tool will walk you through a personalized SEO plan. You’ll get an understanding of how each step can help drive traffic to your site, plus a clear explanation of how to do it. 08. Get a second opinion Once you’ve reached this stage, preview your website to check that everything loads well and that there aren’t any typos or broken links. While you’ll probably have a comprehensive, impressive personal website by now, even the best website designers need an extra eye sometimes. Asking a trusted colleague or friend to review your site could help take it up an extra notch. Perhaps you could improve your bio, write a more powerful mission statement or incorporate a touch of animation in your website design. Receiving feedback isn’t always easy, but it’s worth leaving your ego behind and approaching the critique with an open mind. Once you’ve made any fixes and are satisfied with the final result, it’s finally time to hit the publish button. 09. Promote your site After all your hard work, your personal website is up and running. But you don’t want it to just sit there, lost and alone in the online world. On top of optimizing your site for SEO, there are many effective ways to promote your website for free. Here are a few techniques for getting more eyes on your site: Harness the power of social media marketing by sharing your site on your social channels. You can link to your website on your profile, as well as update your friends and followers by posting about your new creation. Use email marketing to craft valuable newsletters to send out to your subscribers. You can inform them about new blog posts, fill them in on a lecture you’re giving, or send them links to inspirational articles or talks you’ve heard from industry leaders. Add a link to your website and social channels on your email signature. This simple online promotion technique means that any email you send out will automatically contain these links and increase the chances of people reaching your site.  If you’ve never created an email signature before or want to refresh the existing one, test out HubSpot’s free email signature template generator that lets you customize every single element of the email signature and choose from pre-made signature templates. In addition to creating a blog, contact other bloggers from your industry and suggest you write guest posts for one another. This win-win situation can help both parties gain more exposure and bring potential leads to your personal website. Expert tip from Sharon Greenfeld, Team Lead of Outreach at Wix.com: "Use guest posting to bring something new to the table on a specific topic. Guest posts should be should be innovative and unique while staying true to what is relevant for your blog and brand." Remember to use your site analytics to really understand what's happening with your website, in terms of number visitors, where they're coming from and how they engage with your personal site. 10. Consider your website infrastructure When building a personal website you'll want to make sure you choose a website builder with robust website infrastructure for utmost reliability, performance and security . This also means considering what type of hosting you plan to use (Wix site's all come with multi-cloud hosting, for 99.8% uptime), and how secure your site is (Wix sites all come with public key certification, TLS, and 24/7 security monitoring, among other security features). One of the most common mistakes when creating a website is forgetting about your website security. Expert tip from Esin D. Habif, Product Marketing Lead Outbound at Wix.com: "What often gets forgotten when talking about choosing a website builder is the capabilities of the infrastructure that’s promised to you - the reliability of the hosting, the level of security that’s in order to protect your visitor’s data, and of course your site's speed. Even if infrastructure is not the first thought that comes to mind when it comes to making a website, if it’s not robust enough, it can cause large headaches for website owners when trying to scale a website later on." Select your website builder Using a website builder to create a resume website offers several advantages and conveniences, especially for individuals who may not have web development skills or want to create a professional online presence quickly. Here are a few of the main benefits of using a website builder for your resume site. Website builders are designed to be user-friendly, often offering drag-and-drop functionality and pre-designed templates. This makes it easy for anyone to create an appealing and functional website. Many website builders offer both free and premium plans, making it cost-effective to create a resume website, without the need to hire a professional web developer or the need to understand markup language. While also including built-in analytics tools that allow you to track visitor statistics, understand user behavior and gather insights to optimize your resume website's performance . Create a resume website fast, with Wix's AI website builder . 02. Choose your resume website template Regardless of your profession, having a resume website that is functional and beautiful is an absolute must. Now, we understand that not everyone has an eye for design or a clue what a domain name is – and that’s okay. Luckily for you, you can find plenty of free and professional resume website templates on the internet that are equipped with all the page layout elements you need to look good online. All you’re left to do is pick your favorite and customize it until you’re happy with the final result. Depending on your needs and style, there are two types of sites available. You can go for a long scrolling one pager if the sole purpose of your site is to let people read a quick overview about you. It's more extensive than a landing page but less extensive than an entire website. Alternatively, you can opt for the classic option, where each section has a dedicated page. This is recommended for people who have multiple elements to show, such as projects for clients, photography or design portfolios or research papers. Learn more: Resume website examples , Should I use a template to make my website? 03. Add a professional picture of yourself It goes without saying that you should include a picture of yourself on your resume website – after all, if people are on your page, it’s because they want to learn (and see) who you are. Plus, people are naturally drawn to pictures rather than words. But hold on, before you upload that family picture from your last island vacation, think about the perception you want to create with your photo and your resume website as a whole. While some professions (designers, artists, musicians, etc.) may have some creative freedom, for the general job seeker it’s best to play things safe with a neutral, professional looking headshot. Make sure the picture you choose is recent, as well as a true reflection of what you really look like on a daily basis. Finding the right balance between friendly and serious is key – like Tyra Banks suggests: smile with your eyes. You should feel (and look) as natural as possible in order to exude a sense of approachability. Don’t think twice about hiring a professional photographer to snap some good headshots. It’s an investment that you’ll thank yourself for in the long run. As for where to place your picture on your personal website – it should always be above the fold. Why? Because people need to understand in a matter of seconds what they have landed on. This being said, the dimensions and exact location of your picture are up to you. Unlike in printed CVs, your square picture is not required to live on the top left-hand side of your resume. 04. Add the relevant resume sections When it comes to organizing your content, you have the liberty of deciding how to set it up and what to include. However, much like when baking a cake, there are a couple of key ingredients needed in order to achieve the perfect result. That means including the right pages so that your resume website as a whole is truly an accurate representation of you. Whether you're creating a graphic design resume or a professional actor website, remember that readability is crucial here. A good (and complete) resume will always include the following: An inviting homepage: This is the first snippet of you a recruiter will see, so it’s crucial that your homepage is eye-catching yet informative. Your homepage needs to be the perfect summary of who you are and what you do. It should entice people to click more in order to find out more about you. Use this page to display that carefully selected picture of yourself, your name, contact details and field of work or current position. You can also include a paragraph explaining your background or experience. Keep it short and sweet – you don’t want to overwhelm recruiters with tons of text. They’ll discover the rest in the following sections. Your experience: Ah, the real nitty gritty of writing a resume . Select only the experience that is most relevant to the type of field you’re applying for. This can include jobs, internships and any volunteer work. For each job, list a couple of main roles, tasks and accomplishments. You can visually represent your experience by displaying it on a timeline. This design style gives a clean, organized look to your valuable experience. Your education: Depending on the extent of your education, you can also format this as a timeline or simply just list your degree(s). Be sure to include the name of each university or institution, its location and your date of graduation. Also include your major/minor fields as well as any honors, publications or notable projects you were involved in. Skills: Highlight your many talents with a dedicated skills section. You should list any computer systems which you are proficient in (Photoshop, Microsoft office, PowerPoint, content management tools etc.), any foreign languages you speak and other skills that may be required for the job you are applying for that haven’t been mentioned anywhere else in your online resume. Personal projects: This section is included mainly for creative fields in mind, for which you might want to create a portfolio website that showcases your style and creativity. For example, if you're a photographer wanting to show a more personal collection of your work, you can display your images using the Wix Pro Gallery . With any selected project you choose to show, give a detailed description and some context as to how your project came about. The value of including any kind of extracurricular activity (even if it’s not necessarily related to your profession) is that it shows how dynamic you are. Don't be afraid to use multimedia here, including images and video. Contact: As someone looking to be “found”, we can’t stress this enough: make sure your contact details are easy to locate. There’s nothing more off-putting to a site visitor than having to search for your contact info. It’s considered a good practice to add all of your essential details in the footer of your site. Testimonials and recommendations: Reviews are everything these days. Think about the first thing you do when contemplating a new restaurant – you check the reviews, right? Well, you can give recruiters that same unbiased view of yourself by including testimonials and recommendations from previous employers or co-workers. Link to your relevant social channels: For most professional fields, you’ll need to update your LinkedIn account and link to it on your resume website. However, for artists, photographers, freelancers and other creative types who use social platforms as a way to showcase their work, it may be useful to link to your professional Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or YouTube accounts. Be inspired: Resume design ideas 05. Add in the small website design details Going back to that cake analogy, once your cake is baked (and looking delicious) it’s time to decorate it. When you learn how to make a Wix website , there are a couple essential branding elements you’ll need. These include: Selecting the correct colors and fonts: Think of yourself as a brand when completing this step. You’ll need a concise look and feel throughout your resume website. One way to achieve this is through the color scheme and fonts you select. Take a look at our helpful guides to choosing the best resume fonts for your website, including font size . Choosing a unique domain name: Select a domain name that’s preferably, well, your own name. This is what is known as branding. If the domain is already taken, consider adding your job title, location or any other distinctive criteria. Doing this creates a sense of trust and credibility. Not to mention it helps you look professional when sharing business cards with your own domain on them. Expert tip from Einat Shafir, Product Manager at Wix, "The main thing to consider when choosing a domain is finding one that aligns with your brand and is easy for your customers to remember." Including a PDF version of your resume: While your online resume is very impressive, some employers will also want a printable version of your CV. To do this, include a button that links to a downloadable PDF version. Use a resume builder to create a professional looking document, and make sure to update it regularly with your most recent experiences. 06. Followers are the ones who keep coming back, share your posts with friends, sign up for your emails and maybe even become clients or customers if you’re building a business. Here’s how to make that shift using simple and practical tips designed just for wedding blogs. Give readers useful freebies they can’t resist Wedding planning can feel overwhelming. Couples are always on the lookout for tools to make things easier. Offering freebies like budget planners, timeline checklists, photo shot lists or guides about cultural traditions can help solve real problems. Make sure your freebies are specific to your blog’s focus so they feel super relevant. For example, a “Simple backyard wedding checklist” is perfect if you write about small casual weddings. Use these freebies to get readers to join your email list—this is the best way to stay in touch. Send emails that feel like friendly advice Once you’ve got someone’s email don’t just send them boring updates. Treat your emails like you’re chatting with a friend who’s planning their big day. Share helpful tips for different planning stages—like what to do when you’re just engaged or what to remember six months out. Include behind-the-scenes stories, sneak peeks of new blog posts or exclusive freebies only for subscribers. If your blog covers different wedding styles (like elopements or big traditional weddings) try sending emails that fit each reader’s interests. Make your blog easy to explore and binge on Wedding planning is stressful so your blog should be a helpful, easy-to-navigate space. Organize your posts into clear categories like budgeting, dresses, venues or DIY projects. Create “start here” pages for different types of weddings—like elopements or multicultural ceremonies—so visitors can quickly find what fits them. Link related posts together so readers can jump from one helpful article to the next without getting lost. Ending each post with a suggestion like “Next, check out…” keeps people on your site longer. Show your real, relatable side People connect with honesty. Don’t be afraid to share your own wedding planning ups and downs, whether it’s dealing with last-minute changes or tricky family drama. When you’re open about the messy parts as well as the pretty ones, readers feel like they know you and trust you. Write like you talk—friendly, down-to-earth and maybe a little funny. This makes your blog feel like a conversation with a helpful friend, not a stiff guide. Use social media to tease and connect, not just repost Social media is great for grabbing attention but it works best when it adds something new, not just copies your blog posts. Share quick videos on Instagram or TikTok showing how you use your freebies or behind-the-scenes clips of a styled shoot. Use carousel posts to highlight tips from your blog and encourage saves and shares. On Pinterest, create boards that match your blog topics and pin often—Pinterest drives tons of wedding traffic. Always include clear links back to your blog so people can dive deeper. Get readers talking and feeling part of the community Make your blog a two-way conversation. End posts with questions like “What’s the hardest part of planning your guest list?” or “Have you tried any DIY projects that worked well?” You can add fun polls or quizzes too. Invite readers to send in their stories or photos for a feature post. When people comment or reach out, reply kindly and keep the conversation going. Keep showing up regularly People stick around when they know you’ll be there with fresh content. Pick a schedule you can keep—whether it’s once a week, every two weeks or monthly—and stick with it. Let your readers know when to expect new posts or emails so they can look forward to them. Using a content calendar helps you stay organized and avoid burnout. How to start a wedding blog FAQ Do I need technical skills to start a wedding blog? No, you don't need advanced technical or coding skills. Blogging platforms, like Wix, offer user-friendly interfaces with drag-and-drop features that make creating and managing a blog easy. How often should I publish new content on my wedding blog? The frequency of publishing new content depends on your schedule and the time you can dedicate to your blog. Consistency is key, so choose a publishing schedule that is sustainable for you. Whether it's once a week, bi-weekly or monthly, make sure to stick to your chosen schedule. Do I need to be a wedding professional to start a wedding blog? No. You don’t need to be a planner, stylist or vendor to start a blog. Many successful wedding blogs come from couples sharing their personal planning journey, DIY ideas or lessons learned. Your real-life experience can be just as valuable as industry advice. What if I don’t have professional photos or a wedding of my own to write about? That’s totally fine. You can feature styled shoots, curated inspiration boards, Q&As with vendors or planning tips. Use free tools like Canva for visuals or reach out to photographers for permission to feature their work with credit. Can I make money from my wedding blog? Yes, but it takes time. You can earn through affiliate links (like dresses or invitations), sponsored posts, or offering services like planning guides or vendor consulting. Start by building helpful content and trust—then explore ways to monetize. What should I avoid when starting my blog? Don’t try to write for everyone. Pick a focus or niche (like budget weddings, boho styles or destination planning). Avoid copying bigger blogs—your unique voice matters. And don’t stress about perfection. Start messy, then improve as you go. How to monetize a wedding blog You can monetize a wedding blog through affiliate links, sponsored posts, ad revenue or selling digital products like planning templates or checklists.
