From print leader to digital maven

For 25 years, VistaPrint has led the way in custom printing and high-quality brand design for small and medium-size businesses. Originally known for business cards, VistaPrint's offering has expanded to include every asset a business needs from banners, posters and labels to clothing and promotional products. And SMBs can also get access to professional designers and free tools to bring their vision to life. Started out of Founder Robert Keane’s apartment, VistaPrint has grown into a global enterprise with 29 offices and manufacturing facilities around the world.

But having a strong legacy of success in one particular industry can come with challenges. As time went on, VistaPrint, a fiercely customer-first company, found it needed to evolve beyond print to meet customers’ digital needs as well. In an effort to expand its reputation, VistaPrint began to offer online branding, logo design, social media templates and websites. As popularity of these offerings expanded, VistaPrint outgrew their original platform, identifying a need for something truly world class to take them and their customers to the next level.

VistaPrint decided it needed the right partner on its journey to become an end-to-end small business solutions provider. The company began to seek out a well-known, tech savvy, user-centric brand—and landed on Wix.

“Getting online is one of the biggest challenges small business owners face,” says Patrick Llewellyn, VP Digital and Design Services at VistaPrint. “Partnering with Wix allows us to support and empower our customers in this critical part of their brand journey with an innovative—and beautiful—website solution."

Vista x Wix: Weaving websites into the flow

Through the “Vista x Wix” offer, VistaPrint customers are empowered to create, manage and grow their business online with a professional website, analytics, marketing tools and more.

“Wix was a natural choice for VistaPrint,” says Clay McDaniel, VP Digital Partnerships. “We chose Wix as a key website and custom domain partner because they are always innovating their software to make it as intuitive for customers as possible.”

In addition to “ease of use”, McDaniel points out the platform’s advanced business features tailored for SMBs including business-specific website templates, certain auto-populated SEO settings for discovery and helpful AI creation tools.

“We’ve been particularly impressed by the clever way Wix has introduced AI tools to speed along the website set up and management process,” says McDaniel.

In order to cater to visitors with different types of intent, VistaPrint gives its customers several routes to arrive at Wix and launch their website. Customers can access Wix directly through VistaPrint's marketing assets. Alternatively, they can choose a unique website domain name right from VistaPrint's website, made possible by Wix’s own Domain API, and from there create a website to attach to their new domain. Other customers may be interested in designing a business logo, and from there they continue their branding journey into website creation. Thanks to Wix’s tailored B2B solution, the customer’s logo, business name and business category are automatically carried from VistaPrint's product directly into the customer’s new Wix website.

Wix also provides guidance to VistaPrint in optimizing their flows. For example, VistaPrint adjusted their paid packages according to Wix’s insights, resulting in higher conversion and in turn immediate payoff to VistaPrint. The “freemium” option, however, remains a staple of the Wix offering in order to empower any SMB to succeed online.

As McDaniel puts it, “We loved that Wix has a ‘free forever’ option that’s core to their business model and success in the market. This was a big factor in our decision to partner together.”

To close the loop, VistaPrint offers professional website help for any customer who may need it throughout their online business journey. For setup and design, VistaPrint's marketplace of professional designers is the perfect place to go. And for ongoing website management, customers can leverage VistaPrint’s expert Customer Care support, available day or night.

That customer obsession is a shared cultural value in both of our companies. It makes it easy to have honest conversations about what we can improve in the shared customer experience.

Getting SMBs online and growing, together

Through their partnership, VistaPrint and Wix have opened the door for small business customers worldwide to launch and grow online. Hundreds of thousands of websites have been created by VistaPrint x Wix customers as of Q1 ‘25, with thousands of new websites being created each month.

McDaniel describes Wix’s product R&D model as “constantly innovating” and “always experimenting” in order to empower customers with the best possible product and user experience.

“That customer obsession is a shared cultural value in both of our companies,” he says. “It makes it easy to have honest conversations about what we can improve in the shared customer experience—be it related to the software, account and billing or customer support.”

McDaniel credits the outcomes of the partnership in part to the business relationship with Wix. “There’s been great collaboration across our teams since the very beginning of our partnership,” he says.

“We appreciate that Wix has a dedicated B2B partnership structure and team, and that they always listen and prioritize the important requests we make when things need attention.”

The Vista x Wix partnership also expands beyond product and service offering to include creative content collaborations. To provide SMB customers with trends and insights for the future, the two companies released an engaging co-branded industry report called the Small Business Marketing Report 2024. In Summer 2024 for the biggest sporting event of the year, VistaPrint recruited Wix for another ambitious project: to create a digital version of their interactive Paris city guide. Created together with Paris Commerce, the guide features three unique routes marked by vibrant local small businesses. A total of 100K Vista-printed copies were distributed throughout the city, with a QR code leading to Wix’s engaging online version.

“This partnership is all about playing to the respective strengths of VistaPrint and Wix,” says McDaniel, “and to complement each other’s offerings in an integrated way.”

With their shared customer base in mind, there are talks of more exciting Vista x Wix collaborations coming up soon. McDaniel is confident that whatever comes their way, the two companies will be able to achieve it together.

“We tackle all of the challenges and opportunities that emerge together as partners. We’ve built great relationships across our corresponding Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, and Leadership teams—which has been a huge part of the success of our partnership.”

Wix offers a trusted way for large-scale brands to maximize their offering to SMB customers: by incorporating Wix solutions into their services. Through strategic B2B partnerships, our “Channel partners” are empowered to facilitate an online presence for customers and become a one-stop shop for their needs—fueling growth for both the SMBs and the Channel partner.
