When clients come to you looking to grow their audience through events, Wix Studio gives agencies and freelancers a complete toolkit for building fully functional events sites, from RSVPs to paid ticketing to guest management, without relying on third-party platforms. Whether your client runs monthly networking evenings, multi-day festivals or ticketed dining experiences, you have everything you need in a single, professional-grade environment.

Events sites are one of the most feature-rich builds an agency can deliver. They combine e-commerce (ticket sales), CRM (guest management), marketing automation (confirmations and reminders), and calendar functionality in one project. Get it right and you create a high-value client relationship that generates recurring revenue for your business.

TL;DR

Wix Studio is a powerful platform for building client events sites, combining ticketing, payments, guest management and calendar display in a single, agency-ready environment.

  • Add Wix Events to any client site and choose between free RSVP and paid ticketing

  • Set ticket tiers, discount codes and waitlists to match complex event structures

  • Accept ticket payments via Wix Payments with built-in checkout and order management

  • Display events using calendar or list widgets embedded anywhere on the site

  • Manage guest lists and check in attendees using the Wix Owner mobile app

  • Automate email confirmations, reminders and post-event follow-ups

  • Set up recurring events and link event access to a client's membership plan

Why events sites are a high-value agency offering

Not every client website needs ticketing infrastructure, but for the clients who do, the complexity of getting it right means they typically can't do it alone. That's where your agency earns real value.

Events clients often have tight deadlines (the event is happening whether the site is ready or not), ongoing update needs (new events, new seasons, venue changes), and a revenue stream directly tied to the site's performance. That creates a natural retainer relationship: initial build, followed by ongoing support as their events calendar grows.

On the technical side, building a polished events site involves more moving parts than a standard business site, payment processing, guest data, email automation and calendar logic all working together. Wix Studio is purpose-built for exactly this level of complexity.

“Wix Studio lets you build like a professional developer, but faster.”, Lucas Dalto, Programmer and Web Development Educator at Soy Dalto. That speed is critical when you're working on an events client whose first ticket drop is three weeks away.

Getting started with Wix Events on a client site

Wix Events is an app that integrates directly into any Wix Studio site. To add it to a client project, go to the Add Apps section of the Editor and install Wix Events & Tickets. Once installed, it creates an Events Manager in the dashboard where you and your client, can create, edit and manage all events from a central location.

Before you start building, it’s worth scoping the full site with your client. Use your full-stack client website guide to map out all the functionality needed, events is typically one workstream within a broader build that may also include a blog, members area or online store.

Set up the Events Manager early in the project so your client can start entering their events data while you’re still building out the design. This parallel workflow saves time and means you can test the calendar with real content rather than placeholders.

RSVP vs. paid tickets: choosing the right setup for each client

Wix Events supports two core ticketing models, and picking the right one is one of the first decisions you’ll make for each client.

RSVP events

Free events where you want to track attendance. Guests register, receive a confirmation and are added to the guest list with no payment step. This works well for gallery openings, product launches or community meetups.

Paid ticketing

Adds a full checkout flow where guests purchase tickets directly through the site. This is the model for concerts, workshops, conferences, fitness classes and dining experiences.

Ticket tiers

Create multiple ticket types within a single event, for example, General Admission, VIP and Early Bird, each with their own price, quantity and sale window. Tiers are a key feature for clients who want to maximize revenue from each event.

Discount codes

Create time-limited or use-limited promo codes for specific ticket types. Useful for partner promotions, newsletter subscriber discounts or early-access pricing campaigns.

Waitlists

When a ticket tier sells out, Wix can automatically offer guests the option to join a waitlist. If a ticket becomes available, the next person on the waitlist is notified automatically.

Accepting ticket payments with Wix Payments

For clients who want to sell tickets directly through their site, Wix Payments is the built-in payment solution that connects directly to Wix Events. Setting it up for a client involves connecting their business bank account during onboarding, a process that takes around 15 minutes and goes through Wix’s standard merchant verification.

Once connected, all ticket revenue flows through the client’s Wix Payments account, with full order management, refund handling and reporting available from the dashboard. You can read more about the full setup in the guide to accepting payments on client websites.

Wix Events supports multiple currencies, which is important for clients who run events internationally or have attendees traveling from overseas.

A useful thing to communicate to clients upfront: ticket revenue settles on the same schedule as other Wix Payments transactions, typically 2-7 business days depending on their location and bank.

Displaying events on the site

Wix Events gives you several options for displaying a client’s upcoming events, and the right choice depends on how central events are to the overall site experience.

The Events page is the default, a standalone page that lists upcoming and past events, with the ability to filter by date or category. This is the simplest approach and works well for clients who want a clean, low-maintenance calendar.

Calendar widgets let you embed an interactive monthly calendar anywhere on the site, homepage, a dedicated events section or a custom landing page. Attendees can click any date to see what’s happening and go directly to the event page to register or purchase.

Countdown timers and featured event sections can be built using Wix Studio’s layout tools, pulling attention to a flagship event with custom design elements. This is particularly effective for clients who run one or two high-profile annual events alongside smaller recurring ones.

You can also embed event registration widgets into blog posts, landing pages or membership pages, useful when you’re running multi-channel campaign sites where events are part of a broader marketing funnel.

Guest management and check-in

One thing agencies sometimes overlook when quoting an events site build is the operational side of event day. Your client isn’t just selling tickets, they’re managing a guest experience that starts with registration and ends with check-in.

Wix Events includes a guest list management dashboard where your client can see all registered attendees, track ticket purchases and export guest lists as CSV files for venue management or external coordination. Each guest record includes registration date, ticket type and contact details.

For check-in, Wix provides the Wix Owner mobile app, which allows staff to scan QR codes from guest confirmation emails or manually search the guest list. This works offline as well, which matters for venues with unreliable connectivity. For higher-volume events, multiple staff members can use the app simultaneously under the same account.

Make sure your client’s team is set up with the app and has done at least one test check-in before the event. Include a brief check-in training as part of your project handoff documentation.

Automated emails and event communications

Wix Events handles transactional emails automatically: purchase confirmations, RSVP confirmations, calendar invites and event reminders are all sent to guests without any manual action from your client.

What you can customize:

  • The sender name and reply-to address, set this to the client’s email, not a Wix default

  • Branding: logo, colors and event-specific imagery in email templates

  • Reminder timing: set automated reminders to send 1 day, 1 week or another interval before the event

  • Post-event follow-up emails to thank attendees or share next-event announcements

Setting up branded email templates as part of the events site build adds polish and helps the client look professional from day one. It’s also a quick win that clients immediately notice and appreciate.

Recurring events

For clients with a regular events schedule, weekly fitness classes, monthly networking dinners, seasonal film screenings, Wix Events supports recurring event setup so your client doesn’t need to manually create every occurrence.

When creating a recurring event, you define the schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or custom), and Wix generates all occurrences automatically. Each occurrence appears separately in the events calendar and has its own attendee list and ticketing, while remaining linked to the parent series for easy management.

Clients can cancel or modify individual occurrences without affecting the rest of the series, important for one-off venue changes or special scheduling adjustments.

Connecting events with memberships and the blog

Events don’t have to live in isolation on a client site. For clients who also have a membership program, you can connect Wix Events with the members area to create exclusive, members-only events or early-access ticket windows.

The members area for client websites guide covers how to set up gated content, and the same logic applies to events: you can restrict event visibility or ticket purchase to logged-in members, or offer members a discounted ticket tier using promo codes assigned to specific membership plans.

For clients who publish content around their events, recaps, speaker interviews, behind-the-scenes posts, integrating the blog with the events calendar creates a richer content experience. Blog posts can link directly to upcoming events, and event pages can link back to related posts.

The scale a well-built events site can unlock

The best way to understand what a high-performing Wix events setup can achieve is to look at what it’s already doing in the real world.

Fork n’ Film, the cinematic dining experience brand founded by Francesca Duncan and Nick Houston in Los Angeles, built their entire business on Wix’s events ticketing system. The concept, film screenings combined with food, grew from a local DIY moment to $11 million+ in revenue in under two years, expanding to nine global locations across the UK, Hawaii, Tokyo and beyond. At their peak, they were running 180 screenings a month with around 100 staff and more than 500,000 Instagram followers.

“From that DIY to viral moment, we realized almost immediately that we needed a website,” says Francesca Duncan. “We wanted people to know that we were a legitimate company.”

Nick Houston credits the platform’s analytics for informing their global expansion strategy: “I love the analytics on Wix, it tells a big story about who we are as a company and who our customers are. When it comes to expansion, we want to go off data. We don’t want to just go off assumptions.”

That kind of data-driven scaling doesn’t happen without the right infrastructure underneath it. When an agency builds a well-structured events site from the start, with clean ticketing flows, proper payment setup and guest data organized, it gives clients the foundation to grow into something far larger than their initial brief.

Ticket capacity, refunds and the client handoff

One thing worth knowing: Wix Events handles most ticketing configurations well out of the box, including capacity limits per ticket tier and per event and basic refund initiation from the dashboard. But for high-volume clients, events selling thousands of tickets with complex refund policies, partial refunds or existing relationships with third-party ticketing platforms, you should plan additional configuration time in your project scope. Before handoff, document the refund policy clearly and make sure the client knows exactly how to process refunds from the dashboard. If the client is migrating from a dedicated ticketing platform, map out their current workflows in the discovery phase rather than assuming Wix Events will replicate them exactly, identify any gaps early, not on go-live day.

Building out the rest of the events site

Events functionality is often one part of a broader site for clients in hospitality, entertainment or community spaces. A full-featured events client site might also include an online store for merchandise or event add-ons, see the guide to eCommerce client sitesa membership plan for season ticket holders, and a blog for event coverage and community building.

Wix Studio lets you build all of these in the same project, which is a meaningful advantage over platforms that require separate tools for each function. As you scope the project, ask your client about future growth, it’s much easier to leave room for a members area or store in the initial architecture than to retrofit it later.
