Explore simple functions like show/hide and expand/collapse and see and how quickly you can add interactivity to your website.

Every website has a purpose - to inform, to sell, to connect. Whatever role your website plays in your business, it's critically important that it engages your audience or potential users and customers so that you can achieve your goals.

One tool at your disposal is interactivity - making your site respond to the actions of your users. This can make the site feel more alive, more accessible, and much more engaging.

With Velo, it’s simple to make your Wix website interactive and respond to your users actions. In the video below, you can see a great overview of how you can use simple functions to add interactivity to your site.

The video looks at two simple methods for adding interactivity - using the paired show/hide and expand/collapse functions.

How can you use these functions to make your site interactive? Below are two examples of how this is done. You can click through to the full code examples to find out more. If the code seems too challenging for you, you can always hire a developer to help you bring this functionality to your website.

In this basic example, the user clicks either a Show or Hide button to make an image appear. There are a number of ways to implement this in your site, for instance if you want to keep your site design simple and clean, only showing images if they are relevant to the user.

This example beautifully illustrates the way interactive elements can help present information in an easy to navigate way, that keeps your site’s design clean, while also making the information more accessible.

This example presents the user with a simple list of cities, and the user can click the city to expand or collapse the section to find out more information about their choice. This is extremely helpful anytime you want to present the user with multiple options of information while making sure they stay on the page.
