It doesn’t matter how talented or brilliant you are, there is no way for one developer or even an amazing team to build every service all on their own. More importantly, there is no need.

Today there is seemingly no end to the number of services and other technologies that are available to your site or application via APIs. An API (Application Programming Interface) allows your site or app to interact with an external service or technology.

A classic example, and one you can find in more detail here, is a weather service. Building a weather service from scratch is obviously an enormous challenge. So why do it? There are numerous services available that provide APIs so you can use their weather data in your app.

Weather is obviously just one example. Maybe you want stock information, currency info, local holidays, all of this data is available via external services and APIs, so it’s worthwhile to understand how to make your Velo site integrate with these external services.

You can see the full example, or check out these resources to understand more about using external APIs.

To try Velo, register here. Alternatively, if you already have a Wix site click Dev Mode and click Turn on Dev Mode.
