One of the most important elements of being a professional is constantly adding new skills and knowledge to your tool kit. For web developers, this is even more important, as there are new tools constantly being developed, as well as improvements and updates being added to existing technologies and solutions.
As a part of the Velo team’s efforts to provide valuable educational content and resources to users, we have collaborated with the Flatiron school to create a free, four session introductory course on Velo. This course will walk participants through the steps of building a fully functional bike-sharing app and will help them understand the capabilities of Velo in more detail. The course is intended for students who already have a basic understanding of JavaScript.
Even for users who are already familiar with Velo, the course will provide valuable insights and will go into greater detail on a number of topics. As participants build the bike-sharing app, they will learn about how to write backend code and schedule backend jobs, as well as learning more about 3rd party services and how to integrate them through external APIs and npm packages.
The Flatiron school is a leading coding bootcamp that started in the Flatiron district in New York and currently has locations across the US. The school offers courses in software engineering, data science, cybersecurity analytics, and more.
The course will take place across four sessions, with each session lasting two hours. The lessons will be held online over a four week period on the following dates:
Sep 1st 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
Sep 8th 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
Sep 15th 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
Sep 22nd 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM EDT
The course is free and registration is open now.
The course is an integral part of an expanding set of educational efforts to provide resources and tools to learn how to use Velo. The course follows a recent webinar series held on integrating 3rd party services into Velo, and joins other free courses available for Velo including a course on Udemy. Read more about the Udemy course and its creator, Will Fourie, who was previously profiled on the blog.
In the meantime, you can sign up for Velo and start experimenting with the platform and see what you can build with it.
