A 3D melting-face emoji, an endless printout of internet memes and viral images, an interactive giant iPhone, and a postcard-to-the-future stand: just a few of the intriguing installations and thought-provoking works you can find in the new exhibition Design Threads - displayed at the Wix Playground NYC space, which is now open to visit and enjoy.
The exhibition is part of our much anticipated collaboration with NYC-based design studio Porto Rocha and analysis and research hub Float. We’re always looking out for opportunities to collaborate with initiatives that reflect our own values at Wix Playground: supporting designers, making space for passion-projects, and being an integral part of processes that shape the creative industry. The Design Threads project, exploring and unravelling the current state of design, embodies exactly that.
In the words of the team behind the project: “This project brings together a series of threads—interwoven themes, provocations, and questions—that emerged from conversations and research with and for the design community. Some are expected, others unpredictable, all evocative of what it means to be a designer today. What is good design? Who gets to decide? How are designers feeling right now? Are we tasked with too much? Are we doing enough? How is our role changing? Where does design go from here? Design Threads isn’t the answer to these questions, but an invitation to start unraveling them together — pull out a thread, see where it takes you, and leave one of your own.”
