My fascination with architecture began in childhood, wandering through my grandmother's century-old Brooklyn brownstone. The way light filtered through original stained glass windows, casting geometric patterns on worn wooden floors, taught me that buildings are more than shelter - they're vessels of memory and emotion. This early exposure to living history shaped my belief that great architecture must honor both past and future.
Over the years, my work has taken me from the glass towers of Singapore to the sustainable communities of Scandinavia, always seeking to understand how different cultures define home and public space. I've learned that the most compelling architectural stories aren't just about famous landmarks, but about the everyday spaces where life unfolds—the corner café, the neighborhood library, the adaptive reuse project that gives forgotten industrial buildings new purpose.
Beyond writing, I serve as a design consultant for emerging practices and teach occasional workshops on architectural criticism. I believe in fostering the next generation of voices who will challenge conventions and push our built environment toward greater sustainability, accessibility, and beauty. Architecture is too important to remain in the hands of a privileged few—it belongs to everyone who inhabits space.
When I'm not exploring buildings or writing, you'll find me sketching urban landscapes, collecting vintage architectural photography, or advocating for preservation projects in my local community. I live in Portland with my partner and our rescue dog, in a mid-century modern home we're slowly restoring to its original spirit.
