After being diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon, Kun has begun his path to recovery. The star sustained the injury while playing with Independiente's Senior (+35) team on a friendly match against River, and has since undergone surgery. Following the procedure, Sergio posted a triumphant picture on social media of himself in the clinic, declaring it was a success. The next stage of his recovery process will be a three-week period wearing a cast, to then begin physiotherapy sessions.
When he was diagnosed, Kun had shared a video explaining the events, narrating: "Whelp, folks, I had an MRI done. I was playing the Independiente-River match, and as you all know, I got injured –– I even had to be carried out from the pitch. First things first, I have to thank the rest of the team, and River's squad too! They seemed very worried too. The long and short of it is that I ruptured my tendon. Studies should begin tomorrow, and odds are I'll have to go under the scalpel. No two ways about it. Sending you all my best and thanks for your concern!"
Over the next few days, Sergio shared many displays of affection from fans, teammates, and the official accounts of Atletico de Madrid and Manchester City, who joined to wish him a speedy recovery.
