Connecting Your Domain Using Name Servers

    Walkthrough
Easily connect a personal domain (e.g. www.mydomain.com) to your Wix site for a more professional look.

Domains can be bought directly from Wix, but if you already own a domain from an external domain host, you can also connect it to your Wix site!
To connect a domain, you first have to upgrade to a Premium Plan that includes connecting your own domain. Learn more about our plans by clicking here.
Please note that some plans include a free domain for one year.

You can connect your domain in two ways:

    1. Connect your domain to Wix's name servers.

    2. Point your domain to Wix's IP (not recommended). For more information, click here.

Connecting Your Domain Using Name Servers

When you connect a domain to Wix's name servers, the domain name stays at your hosting company, but the control of your domain records is transferred to Wix.

To connect your domain to your site using name servers:

    1. Purchase a domain from a domain hosting company.
    2. From the top menu of Wix.com, hover over Subscriptions and click Domains.
    3. Under Domains, click Use a Domain You Already Own.
    4. Click Connect your domain to Wix but keep your current registrar.
    5. Under Setup with Wix, type your domain name in the field.
    6. Select a site that you would like to connect your domain to and click Next.
    7. Under Setup with registrar, select a registrar from the drop-down menu and click Done.
    8. Follow the instructions to ask your domain host to connect your domain to Wix's name servers.
    9. Click Done.

It may take up to 72 hours for the change to take effect.

Using a domain with special characters

Currently, it is not possible to use special or foreign characters in your domain name. This feature requires support of International Domain Names (IDN) which currently we do not have.

However, you can add the "translated" domain name to Wix instead of the original domain name, i.e. if your domain is www.exâmple.com, the translated domain will be www.xn--exmple-xta.com

You can use this encoder to translate your domain.
