ICANN's 60 Day Lock Policy

1 min read
In accordance with the regulations established by ICANN (the domain regulatory body), it is not possible to transfer a domain within 60 days of:
  • Registering the domain
  • Changing the registrant contact information
  • Transferring your domain between different domain providers
This limitation applies to both incoming (to Wix) and outgoing (away from Wix) transfers and cannot be circumvented by Wix.
If you are unable to transfer your Wix domain away from Wix due to this limitation, you can keep the domain in your Wix account and point it to your external site in the meantime. Click here to learn more.
Alternatively, if you were trying to transfer your domain to Wix and were unable to due to this limitation, you can connect your domain to Wix in the meantime. Click here to learn more.
Note:
  • After changing your contact information you are required to confirm your information within 14 days of the change. Failure to confirm your contact information within 14 days will result in the suspension of your domain.
  • If your final goal is to transfer your domain to another domain provider, please be advised that you should do so before changing your contact information, in order to avoid triggering the 60 day lock.
