My name is Brian Franco and I currently reside in Northern California in San Francisco. I went to school for graphics and web design and for a long time I wanted to be an animator – so I took classes in animation as well and worked for Rhythm & Hues studios on the “Scooby Doo 2” movie. I realized then that I wanted to do more 2D Print, Illustrations, Matte Painting, Packaging, Campaigns, Character Creation, and Web Design, so I started working for a small start-up graphics company called Y Design. I created original characters for toys, candy molds and models that were sold in grocery stores, Wal-Marts, etc. all around the U.S., mostly during the holiday season. There I also had the opportunity to work on projects for major motion pictures studios as well as on smaller projects that tied into major Broadway Musicals.
Afterwards, I freelanced for many years and now I have my own company called Dream Factory Marketing. Currently, I am branching my work out into the food industry and am designing for local SF Bay Area restaurants, cupcake companies, and local business that vary across the board.
I used to design all of my websites (and there were many of them – varying from all Flash, to part Flash, to hybrid HTML and Flash, etc). The websites looked great but they were labor-intensive and the sites weren’t really “working for me” like I had wanted them to, though aesthetically they did impress many industry veterans and potential clients alike. Wix allowed me to have lots of “freedom” to do the same things I would have before but with half the work – possibly less.
Wix empowered me to save time, effort, energy and money by implementing my own vision while utilizing their tools to create dynamic websites that had the same “pizzazz” and as aesthetically pleasing outcome as before – but in a lot less time, at a way lower price tag. I also didn’t have to work with a programmer on anything – a beautiful thing. I wasn’t at the mercy of a collaborative designer that I used to have to work with before. Everything that I wanted to implement on my own websites was right there at my disposal and within my skill level. And everything I did not know how to create, Wix seemed to have already created it for me.
I have created many kinds of sites with Wix and for quite a few years now. Just recently Wix programmers seemed to have “upped their game”. If I thought the functionality and features were good before – they are smokin’ hot now and that makes me look like a rockstar! LOL. My own site represents me in the best light possible, which means I’m making money because potential future clients go to my site, they have an amazing experience there by checking me and my portfolio which is a direct reflection of me – and then I get booked for jobs! So it actually pays off to use Wix – who would have thought? I’m not kidding!
I would recommend Wix to everyone. It’s that simple. Although this may sound kind of wierd, I’d say the mid level or pro designer like myself can really take advantage of what Wix offers to work with. You can take Wix’s principals and make the functionality, tools and features work for you. Literally, the sky is the limit – you are only limited by your imagination. If you know what you are doing, not only can you end up with a slammin’ website for very very low cost, but you can get everything finished in a very short amount of time, without all the hassle and be off and running sharing your site with friends, colleagues, co-workers, and clients and literally make your small investment in using Wix work for you tenfold!
