I frequently describe myself as a “creative nonconformist”, which basically means that I am a maker/artist/creative type that doesn’t like to conform to societal norms. Art = fun!
I’m a visual thinker so I tend to notice color and patterns straight away. These two things seem to be my main inspirations. I’m also inspired by many artists, writers and designers but Alexander McQueen’s fashion and street art really speaks to me.
Life before my website was less colorful, for sure. I used photo sharing websites to communicate my art & ideas before hitting the web with my own website. I promote my work through many channels. My website, Etsy, Flickr and social media. I also sell my artwork through local galleries and by word of mouth.
I discovered Wix a few months ago when I was looking for an easy way to create a website for my husband’s business. I wanted something template-based that I didn’t have to work too hard on. Wix was just the thing. I liked using it so much that I dumped my old provider and used Wix to reinvent my web presence. I chose a template that had the design elements that I was looking for, but I mostly chose the layout because of the color scheme. I used colors from my artwork to serve as inspiration for which template I chose.
What I like about Wix is that designing with it is so easy. The available templates provide tons of inspiration for designing on your own and I *love* that you can change every aspect of the design, from color to page elements. Wix makes it super easy to get things exactly how you want them and updating is ridiculously simple.
I’ve had a lot of positive feedback about my new website. A lot of people have commented that it loads fast and is easy to read. I chose a white background this time, my old website’s background was black, and I really like how it allows my artwork to stand on it’s own.
