My name is Anne Kubitsky and I am currently running a worldwide community art project about gratitude called “The Look for the Good Project”. Last October I began placing blank invitation postcards in random places in CT asking people to write or draw a glimmer of gladness on a postcard and to mail it back to my address. I didn’t think much would come of it but almost immediately, I began getting postcard responses from Washington, Oregon, Texas, Alaska.. and now, almost a year later, I have thousands of postcards from all over the world.
I created my Wix website to honor all the cards I was receiving. So my inspiration comes largely from all the people who have joined me in looking for the good. I learned about Wix from a friend and have been using it since. I just love how easy and affordable it is! People say, “who designed your website?” and I say “I did.” They don’t believe me – they think that I had a whole design agency build it for me.
I love how quickly you can edit and add. In addition, it’s neat to be able to connect to Tumblr, where I’m posting postcards everyday. I continue to be surprised and amazed by Wix’s capabilities!
I think the best way to “promote” things is to live it – to try it out and test it in your own life. That’s why this project has led to a tremendous amount of unexpected healing. Having been sexually assaulted over a decade ago (and still holding onto the baggage of that), this project finally helped me let go of the past and embrace the beauty and abundance of the present moment. I am so grateful to all the people who have helped me simply by taking the time to reflect and send a little bit of gladness to my address. I was able to reach so many more people, and effectively spread the word about the project by having a striking website to tell the story and showcase all the amazing postcards I received.
