Wix Playground is dedicated to celebrating design culture and freedom, giving creatives the tools they need to grow, connect, and experiment. Promoting fresh and bright voices, Wix Playground provides our community of multidisciplinary designers insights to shape their online presence using Wix’s professional design capabilities.
What is Wix Playground Academy - ONLINE edition?
For the last 3 years we have run an intensive web design program taught by industry-leading experts in NYC. Since moving online in 2020 due to COVID19, we’re excited to bring the academy to more locations! The Online Edition is a 4-5 week exclusive and extensive program for young creatives looking to enrich their professional skill set, interact with industry leaders and network with other designers. Alongside playful and experimental workshops, you’ll focus on discovering your personal brand and build your online portfolio.

Where will the program be held and how often do we meet?
Program will take place via Zoom. Students will meet for 8 hours a day, 4 times a week. Attendance is mandatory. We have 3 different programs to cater different time zones.
What will you learn?
The main focus will be to develop your personal brand, build your online portfolio and presence, enhance your web design skills, learn how to showcase and promote your work and experience unique lectures, workshops and more.
How is the program structured?
Wix Playground Academy is jam-packed with lectures, workshops and supported throughout with personal mentoring sessions.
Week 1 - Overview and web design basics, responsive theory and personal branding
Week 2 - Development of personal portfolios, UX, code and EditorX
Week 3 - Mocks and animation skills for optimal project presentation
Week 4 - Finalize projects, mobile design, QA and final presentation and portfolio review
What will I learn during the program?
Develop a user-centered approach to interaction design while creating and implementing a style guide for site components.
Learn how to implement database collections, add custom forms and change site behavior.
Create content-rich websites.
Learn different tools and skills to have an optimal project presentation.
Learn how to create timelines for projects, scopes and deadlines.
Get advice from professional content writers on how to write good representative text.
Learn how to do inspiration research and identify visual trends.
What is the application process?
You can apply if you’re 18+, a design school student, a freelance designer, or if you work in design-related fields. To apply, submit your portfolio. Successful applicants will be called for a short interview. Portfolios built with Wix will have an advantage.
How much does the program cost?
Wix sponsors the program entirely.
How do I create my Wix portfolio website?
First choose a template or start from scratch. Customize your portfolio exactly the way you want and Publish to go live. Include a link to your Wix portfolio in your application form.

What do I need to prepare?
You just need to bring your laptop, a quiet and comfortable workstation. We also recommend having an extra monitor. Any additional software will be provided by us.
Who are the teachers?
To be announced. In the past, we’ve hosted Wix professionals, guest lecturers and award-winning designers including Jessica Walsh, Debbie Millman, Alexandra Zsigmond, Adam Kurtz, Nicole Ginelli and Hagit Kaufman.
Can I get credit at my university for this?
Yes, you may earn internship credit by participating in Wix Playground Academy. Contact us to find out if your school is participating.
