Wix Playground Presents:

It’s Nice That - Creative Revival

A year has passed since the world first went into lockdown, projects were put on pause, festivals postponed, and work lives adapted to a pandemic. That’s why Wix Playground has partnered with It’s Nice That to ask industry leaders Anthony Burrill,  Shamma Buhazza, Anna Ginsburg, and Lawrence Agyei to reflect on their creative practice over the past 12 months, and the future of the creative industry. Join us for all this and more, as we kickoff a creative revival.

Meet the speakers

Anthony Burrill

Kent-based graphic artist Anthony Burrill believes that gentle humor, no-nonsense communication and above all, people, are the driving forces behind his unique brand of upbeat messaging. Combined with his innate affinity for  powerfully effective simplicity and analogue craft skills, Burrill’s process is all about creativity without limitations.
Often collaborating with similarly forward-thinking creatives from the worlds of music, architecture, curation, and education, Burrill is inspired to push his letterpress printing practice in exciting new directions.

Shamma Buhazza

Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, and currently living in Germany, Shamma Buhazza is a truly international graphic designer. Buhazza’s personal work aims to decolonize design. Exploring some of the more challenging topics of our time, her work focuses on themes such as cultural identity, nostalgia, and the unfamiliar. Buhazza’s creative practice is a prime example of the future of design, and the direction the industry is moving toward.

Anna Ginsburg

British animator and filmmaker, Anna Ginsburg, specializes in combining a variety of techniques and processes, taking an experimental approach to traditional hand-drawn 2D, stop-motion, digital imagery and live-action, for an excitingly fresh artistic practice. With a BAFTA win under her belt for her first music video for the band Bombay Bicycle Club, and short films with more than 15 million views, Ginsburg’s wealth of experience uniquely positions her to offer valuable advice as we seek to invigorate our creative practices.

Lawrence Agyei

Ghanaian-born photographer Lawrence Agyei spent some time in  Italy, before settling into his current home on Chicago’s South Side.  Armed with his camera, Agyei manages to capture the hidden languages running deep within his subjects, so that their voices will never fade. Through his portraiture, Agyei provides his subjects a platform to speak their truths, at any time, always. His images have been featured in some of the most widely-read media outlets of today, including Vanity Fair, Apple, The New Yorker, and The Fader, to name a few.
