So we can do blog now through wix code, but I m trying to understand if it has any benefits? Or is it better to go old way, with wix blogs?

Wix Code introduces more options to the Wix Platform, with them more decisions. You can use both the Wix Blog or Wix Code to create a Blog - both options are valid. The differences are a tradeoff you need to make.
Wix Blog is designed to be a blog. It takes minutes to setup a blog, you get all the needed tools to have a great blog online. It is what fits most users.
Using Wix Code you can create a blog, by creating a collection, using dynamic pages and creating an index page. It is a more involved process compared to the Wix Blog.
My personal opinion is that Wix Blog is great. Unless there are features you must have that Wix Blog is missing, I’d go with Wix Blog. If you must go custom and have specific requirements Wix Blog does not cover, Wix Code is a great solution.

Wix blog is easy setup, however I have found it to be cumbersome for the user input. The styling has some glitches so can be trying for them to set up text and photos. I like the code as you can set up a certain style and makes it much easier for user input…the photo upload faster and simpler, and they only have to worry about input and hitting submit.
