Paid Membership Has Arrived To Wix!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that Wix has released an in-house paid membership solution!

Those of you who know me, understand why I am so excited about this!

It allows you to:
-Create membership levels
-Accept monthly recurring payments or one-time payments
-Assign member roles and access to certain pages for particular membership levels

The possibilities are spectacular!

I released a tutorial here about how to start using it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tMYI2MUe1E

Let me know if you have any questions!!

Thank you,
Michael Strauch

The user experiance is just so so.

When the user selects a plan they are prompted to create an account and then the app requires the user to re-select a plan. Considering this, I am not willing to risk the customer bouncing becasue of the user experiance.

The app also requires you to add ā€œmemebrs areaā€ to your site

ā€œPlans and Pricingā€ requires its own page, so if you have an existing sales page you have two options.

  1. link to the ā€œPlans and Pricingā€ page or
  2. rebuild your sales page on the ā€œplans and pricing pageā€ to accomplish a CTA at the bottom of the screen.

I brought this up to WIX and they are forwarding it to the proper team.

good luck!

Hey there,

You are totally right about all of this!

I know Wix will take action on this!

Thank you,

Michael

Hi there, wondering if anyone can help. Iā€™m looking to use this feature for people to sign up for gym memberships. The issue I have is I need members to accept terms and conditions, disclaimer etc but I canā€™t see a way of linking of embedding a form into the membership sign up process? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Is it possible to set up payments to be every 6 and 12 months, and not just every month or single payment?

There are many features that really need to be added to the paid plans for it to be really usable beyond just a very basic repeating payment gateway, and i really wish it was a priority for Wix. Things like being able to have custom payment plans, ability to offer free trials that when ends auto bills, ability for customers to even upgrade and downgrade memberships, ability to redirect after purchase, terms and conditions that require customer acknowledgement before purchase. All these things SHOULD have been in the Paid Plans, but we likely will never see them.

I mean lets be honest here, they canā€™t even make their own forum notification system work, what chance do we really think we have at actual fixes or upgrades to sub-par features. I really wish it was different but atlas it is what it is.

For myself, i am just trying to cobble together enough and make enough of a website work until i can afford another solution for my website needs.

Just add a link on the memberships options page and state that, by continuing, you agree to these terms.

Very bulky, admin of permissions is almost impossible to use if you have more than one or two permission pages and no way to import existing members (so you have to manually set and that is a no good if you have hundreds or in my case, thousands to import.

If a customer purchases a certain plan are they able to upgrade to the higher plan? Does this work in a one off payment situation?

For example customer purchases gold plan for one off payment of $100. They then decide they also want access to the additional features of the platinum plan ($110). Do they have to purchase the entire platinum plan for an additional $110 or can they ā€˜upgradeā€™ for $10?

Where does the member go for cancellation of the plan? Is it not done automatically? It seems that they have to request it??

Any advancement on these issues?

  • Choosing membership as part of the sign up process
  • User cancelling and upgrading their own membership
