I am working on a project where I want to create a paid members-only website which accesses information in a database and displays it based off user input. This is geared toward the classic car enthusiast or dealer who wishes to easily decode the VIN and Body Tag of their vehicle. The user would select:
• Model Year
This would them route them to a specific page where the user can input this information. The website would then used this data to read a linked database and then display the output. The data involved would look similar to this information on Plymouth vehicles from 1960-1975: http://www.tpocr.com/plymouthvin5.html
For example, the user could select from a drop-down menu:
And then on the 1968 Plymouth subpage, the user can type into the user input box the vehicle VIN = RM21H8A100002 [RM21H8A100002 being input by the user]
And the website would then go to the lookup table for each value and display the Output, which in this case would then be:
• Car Line R = Belvedere
• Series M = Road Runner
• Body Style 21 = 2-door sedan
• Engine M = 383cid V8 high performance
• Model Year 8 = 1968
• Assembly plant A = Lynch Road, Michigan
• 100002 = Production Serial Number
The challenges that I have run into are:
• Building the functionality for the website to ready data typed into a User Input Text Box
• Understanding how the database can search based off the User Input and then display the Output to the User
I am new to coding and so far, all I have been able to do is generate a drop-down menu for the user to select the Manufacturer and Model Year.
Does Wix have this capability with its built-in tools?
Or does this need more advanced coding?
Is using a Wix site with Corvid language appropriate for this type of work?
Or should I be using Python, PHP or something else?
I have no experience programming. Is this user input, lookup and display functionality able to be coded in modules for a beginner like me?
Thank you in advance for your input.
