I am new to the Wix environment - which i really like so far. However, has anyone had success with the home screen icon feature / code here in Wix? I have used this feature with websites in the past using Adobe products. It is a simple concept, and the coding somewhat standard, but can not get the code supplied by Wix to work.
I would appreciate any input / examples of the code that works with Wix.
This is kind of a deal breaker for my business, if I can not get it to work, I will have to go back to Adobe. I really like Wix though and hope I can resolve this issue
I was able to resolve the home screen issue to some extend though it does not make much sense.
I decided to take a break from the Home Screen Icon issue and create the favicon image. Long story short, I created a standard .ico favicon image which Wix does not accept. I converted the .ico to .png and re-tried. The image was distorted and not usable. Just as a test for a thought i had … I uploaded one of the home screen icon images (via the site editor) as the favicon image. It worked for the favicon, which makes no sense as there is a huge difference in image size - favicon vs home screen icon, it is not perfect but works good enough.
I then went back to the home screen icon issue. When I opened the browser and did a “add to home screen”, which shows a preview image of the image that will be added to the home screen (to see where I had left off) and it showed the correct home screen icon image.
Bottom Line: the system is using the favicon image that I uploaded, as the image for the home screen icon as well. If I change the favicon image, the home screen icon image changes accordingly. Go figure…makes no sense but works!!
I am looking for code that will enable someone to press an object (button, text, box) the that will trigger the URL to be saved to the phones Home Screen.
