Clickbank integration

Hi there, I have no experience in coding (which is why I chose wix for my website), but I have a few affiliate links I would like to add as separate landing pages to my website for social media marketing purposes. If I add the HTML app, it won’t allow it, as it only works with https: and clickbank is http: This question may have been asked before, but how on earth do I do this? Thanks

You can disable HTTPS on your site which would then allow you to use HTTP, but this is greatly discouraged.

I’m not sure if this helps, but it seems that Clickbank also supports HTTPS. You might want to contact their technical support to get a URL that will work for you.

Good luck,

Yisrael

Thanks Yisrael. When Wix says that to be able to be HTTPS you cannot use 3rd party websites, what exactly does that mean? Can I use apps/APIs that are not from Wix but on the Wix Market and still be HTTPS? Can I use exterior links from another site like an affiliate link from Clickbank and still have HTTPS? Can I use a widget that is NOT from Wix and NOT on the Wix Market but is HTTPS?

Im assuming, as long as the 3rd party site is also HTTPS then it is possible? I’ve been a but confused about this and can’t seem to find a direct answer. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks again Yisrael.

Hi Nelson,

Sorry but I’m not sure what Wix statement regarding 3rd party websites that you are referring to. Let’s put it this way…

For sake of security, Wix sites by default are HTTPS (SSL enabled), and links access to 3rd party services must be HTTPS. Wix offers the option of disabling HTTPS which allows embeding of HTTP services at the expense of a lower level of security.

For more information regarding HTTPS vs. HTTP you can see the following discussions:

  • Embedding Another Site - click on the title Embed a site with a URL that begins with the HTTP protocol to expand the text.

  • Accessing 3rd-Party Services - preferred method is accessing 3rd party service in backend code
The second option (using backend code) is definitely the preferred method. It provides a higher level of security by hiding sensitive information such as: account number, API key, names, email, etc.

Good luck,

Yisrael

Perfect. Thanks for clarifying.
