Bug (Reproducable): Mobile Site is loading infinitely without showing content

@yisrael-wix @ohad-laufer @alexander-jdanov @stevesoftwareservice

Hey,
this is one is really easy to reproduce. Especially it is really annoying, since the the Mobile-Website never finishes loading which is an incredible bad user experience! One can just refresh and “hope” that the Mobile-Website will finish loading and display its content. See attached video.

How to reproduce

GUI: Simply create an empty page with no content at all besides of a dummy text field to see if loading worked. You could add further elements, it doesn’t matter.
Page-Code: nothing
Site-Coding: nothing
Mobile Welcome-Screen: No Icon or Background animation: You can add animation doesn’t matter.
Action-Bar: add one or don’t. It doesn’t matter.

Expected result
Mobile Website is finished loading after certain time

Actual result
Mobile Website is loading infinitely. Sometimes if you refresh the mobile site it is loading and displaying the content correctly 10 to 15 times in a row. Sometimes it is “loading infinetly” (see last 10 seconds from attached Video) on the first time or after 2-3 refreshments (like in the Video).

Tested Devices

  • iPhone XS: Safari Browser
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 +: Chrome Browser

Test Website: influced.com/test

I’ve tried this on my iPhone 7 Plus and it works every time. I’ve tried both refresh and new browser tabs. Tests were in Safari

Hello Yisrael, how often did you refresh? As mentioned above sometimes it works 20 times in a row. But I assure you, that there is a bug. Sooner or later you will definitely see the bug like in the Video.

Further, I did not add any single line of code to that page and commented out every single line in the site code. This issue is not user specific (me).

Another Video which i made right after your comment. There is a bug for sure
And thank you so much that you even support on a Sunday

@oezdemirumut I don’t doubt you - it just hasn’t happened to me. Yet.

I’ll keep trying. It could be a system issue - server location, distance, rendering system. I’ll play with this some more and refer it to QA. They’re smart.

@yisrael-wix Allright  Thank you very much. If you need any further information, just let me know. I’m looking forward to hear from you.

With warm regards,
Umut

@oezdemirumut I’ve tried but can’t get this to happen for me. Are you still encountering this problem?

Hi @yisrael-wix ,
just resfreshed the mentioned test site couple times. After about 6 successful refrehsments it got ‘stuck‘ twice in a row. So, yes i am still encountering that issue :frowning:

Hmmm. I’ll send this on to QA for evaluation. Hopefully they’ll be able to get it to “break”.

Hello @yisrael-wix

I figured something out. Sometimes when I refresh the page, I am seeing the following error in the console. I just found out that it is possible to see the console log for mobile websites on desktop website with “?showmobileview=true”. I didn’t know that before and for that reason I couldn’t see any error in my smartphones, since I couldn’t open the console on my smartphone

Now I am 100 % sure, that when ever the “infinitely loading issue” from the video comes, that it is due to this error!
Because when I reload the page in the “?showmobileview=true” I am seeing that the page stays blank whenever this error occurs. And probably (99,9999 %) that’s the reason for the infinetly loading issue on the mobile site.

I hope this helps and I hope we can fix the problem now.

Check this page out https://www.influced.com/influencer-jobs?showmobileview=true and refresh a couple times. After a while the error in the console will occur and the page will stay blank.

@oezdemirumut Yes, I’ve seen this before as well. Tested it on your site and does exactly what you say it does. For some weird-ass reason opening up console actually makes it load every time…

Could this be Wix trying to pull a VW and fake us out when testing? (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) #WixGate

I sent this thread on to QA, but I’ll let them know that there are new details in the thread that they might find interesting.

@skmedia How did you know that Wix’s new web engine is diesel?
