[beginner] Creating new dynamic page from old structure

Hoping someone can help. Before corvid came along I had my website set up manually. In other words, I have a clothing retail site with a number of pages of the same layout but with different categorical elements (eg Shop New In, Shop all, Shop Dresses etc). As pictured, each heading on the horizontal menu drops down to show category pages that then displays wix store collections relating to each category.

As these pages all use the same layout, I want to be able to have a master dynamic page which I can then use throughout the site and manage things more easily, without having to make adjustments to each individual page when I want to change something.

I’m a beginner but want to learn, so please bear with me. I’ve got started doing my database for my dynamic page, but can’t seem to apply the correct wix store collection to the appropriate page. It seems I can only select one, i.e. ‘dresses’ and it will display on every dynamic page. How do I get round this?

My second question is how to get around my established URLs regarding SEO. I’m guessing I will have to use re-directs but am concerned that this number of re-directs would not only be a faff but would also reflect badly on my SEO - am I right in thinking this?

  • Above all, if it seems I’m trying to tackle this project in completely the wrong way, then I’d really appreciate some steer in the right direction! My website is www.wearestylecamp.com for more info.

This forum is dedicated to Corvid. For questions that are not related to code you can contact the Wix support team or other social groups that discuss Wix sites.

I would say that my query is related to corvid, seeing as I am trying to use those features to complete my project?

You’ve got a ways to go before you need to start thinking about code. You might not even need code. I would suggest you explore the possibilities of using Wix Stores . If you prefer to “roll your own”, see the information on Dynamic Pages with Wix Data .

If you decide to use Wix Stores and you feel you need code, see the articles under Wix Stores with Corvid .

Are you saying that it’s not possible to create dynamic pages that can display different wix store collections on each of the pages within a dataset? The current way I am displaying store collections is ‘the wix stores way’, which is to manually create individual pages with the same layouts and adding the relevant wix store collection. I was under the impression that with corvid you only had to design the one page that then automatically creates pages with your data from your database. That is what I’m looking to do as I have lots of wix store collection pages and it will be easier to create and manage them in this way.

All I’m saying is you should let Wix Stores do the heavy lifting for you. See the article on Creating on Online Store Using Wix Stores .

If you decide that you’d rather build your own dynamic pages to display your products, then refer to the articles in my previous post.

I’m not sure this really answers my question, but thanks for the resources

I think the Creating on Online Store Using Wix Stores will give you a good start. I’m working with many users who give their site a whole new workover. Wix Stores provides a powerful platform for creating a store that does not require a lot of maintenance. If you decide that you want to customize your site with special functionality, you can then use code.
