How to Install and Preview Your Branded App on an Android Mobile Device

Follow these steps to preview your fully branded app on your android mobile device before it goes live to app users in Google Play and the App Store. The link to download a preview is for your personal use only. Sharing the preview link with others is not permitted. Once your app is live users may download your app from the stores.

While your app is in the process of installing, you’ll receive a pop-up notification stating that your phone is not permitted to install unknown apps. You’ll need to change your mobile’s settings to continue downloading your app:

  • Tap on the Settings option on the pop-up notification

  • Toggle on Allow from this source 

  • Tap on ← to go back

  • Continue downloading your app by tapping on Install on the pop-up notification screen

  • When your App is downloaded swipe up to see your app drawer and go to the My Files folder or any File Manager on your device

  • Tap on the downloaded file to install it

Once your app is installed, you can preview the version of your branded app that you downloaded.

Android® 8.x & above

  1. Navigate to Settings from your home screen 

  2. Tap on Apps

  3. Scroll down to Special App Access

  4. Scroll down and tap on Install Unknown Apps

  5. Select the browser (E.g. Chrome or Firefox) you want to download the app from

  6. Toggle on Allow App Installs

 
Android® 7.x & below

  1. Navigate to Settings from your home screen

  2. Tap Lock screen and Security or Security

  3. Toggle On Unknown Sources

  4. Review prompt then tap OK

 
On Samsung devices

  1. Navigate to Settings from your home screen

  2. Tap on Biometrics and Security

  3. Tap on Install Unknown Apps

  4. Select the browser (E.g. Chrome or Firefox) you want to download the app from

  5. Toggle on Allow From This Source

On non-Samsung devices

  1. Navigate to Settings from your home screen

  2. Tap on Apps

  3. Scroll down to Special App Access

  4.  Scroll down and tap on Install Unknown Apps 

  5. Toggle on Allow App Installs

 
On Xiaomi devices

1. Navigate to Settings from your home screen

2. Tap on Additional Settings

3. Tap on Privacy

4. Tap on Special App Access

5. Scroll down and tap on Install Unknown Apps

6. Select the browser (E.g. Chrome or Firefox) you want to download the app from

7. Toggle on Allow App Installs
