The D&AD Festival is a three-day event celebrating the best of contemporary design and advertising. Held in London from April 24 to 26, the festival is packed full of fascinating talks, Q&As and workshops. With this year’s main topic focusing on the ways creativity shapes our culture, the festivities are divided into three main tracks:
– ‘Human Voices’: Can design tools promote a positive change in the world?
– ‘Owning the Future’: How can the creative industries embrace change?
– ‘Failure and Successes in the Creative Process’: Time for an all-out craftiness bash!
Ready for portfolio surgery?
To top it all off, Wix and D&AD have teamed up to create ‘Portfolio Surgery’, a unique workshop which will run throughout the entire festival. The concept: lucky design students will enjoy private mentorship meetings with leading creatives – including Debbie Millman, creator and host of the first design podcast ever, Design Matters. These design pros will dissect participants’ portfolios, and share needle-sharp insights of their findings.
At the end of the festival, the mentors will select their favorite portfolio. The winning student will enjoy a reserved front row seat in the Wix Design Playground, an über-exclusive three-month web design program in the heart of Manhattan. And as if that’s not enough, they will also receive a special grant to cover all of their travel and accommodation expenses. Sound like a win-win situation? It’s not too late to grab your pass and join the D&AD festivities.
