Scholarship
Study Focus Dinner
Academic excellence is extremely important to each Theta. After all, we are all in college to get a quality education! Thetas boast the highest GPA among all Panhellenic groups at UTD for the last 9 out of 10 semesters. In order to maintain our top ranking, we have established several fun and motivating scholarship programs, for which we were recognized at the 2008 Kappa Alpha Theta Grand Convention.
At the beginning of each semester, the Director of Scholarship hosts a Study Focus Dinner, where sisters can eat together and trade advice about different courses and professors. By talking with sisters about classes, Thetas can kick off the semester right by going over goals and asking for advice that may have otherwise gone untapped.
Study Hours
Thetas are expected to study outside of class and are given the extra motivation by study hours. Hours are assigned by the Director of Scholarship based on the individual's GPA. The higher the GPA, the fewer study hours are required. New members are also encouraged to fulfill study hours so that they find a balance between schoolwork and Theta during their first semester of sorority involvement.
Each week at chapter meetings, active members are recognized and rewarded for their outstanding scholastic performance the previous week. The Director of Scholarship presents weekly programs to the chapter to help each member maximize their scholastic potential.
Scholarship Banquet
At the end of the school year, the Thetas invite their parents to our annual Scholarship Banquet. At the banquet, sisters are recognized for academic achievements, exceptional commitment to the fraternity, and other qualities that made them shine during the year. It is a great way to show our parents what Theta is all about, and a fabulous incentive to excel during the year.
