The ZHS JROTC program is a military based class that focuses on building a sense of responsibility, integrity, respect, discipline, and teamwork. JROTC is a cadet run program with the help and guidance of the SAI (Senior Army Instructor) and AI (Army Instructor).
Throughout the course of the program, cadets are taught how to conduct themselves in a military manner and to
conduct military-based tasks.
The purpose of the JROTC class is to teach students leadership skills that are essential in life after high school. They will discover what their learning style is and how to apply it to their daily study regimen.
Cadets are given the opportunity to earn ranks, medals, and awards that will allow them to gain honor, respect, and responsibility.
ZHS JROTC also works for the community. Each year cadets are given the opportunity to earn over 100 community service hours participating in parades, color guards, holiday events, and the helpinng with local events.
Drill Team is all about the marching in percise movement, spinning a rifle, and making sure an individual keeps their bearing. We travel all over the state to compete against fellow JROTC programs. With Drill, our Cadets are taught how to work as a team, no matter how hard times might get. Cadets also learn the meaning of disipline and self control.
In Drill, we compete in various divisions such as unarmed platoon, armed platoon, armed and unarmed squad, individuals for both male and female, etc.
In the past school year, our prestigous drill team made it to States. Our goals for the up and coming year are to make it to States and later on in the school years we hope to make it to nationals. We would appreciate the most dedicated Cadets to join and be part of our team.
Raiders is all about the rigorous physcial training and working as a team to get the job done. Cadets will participate in running, pushups, team exercises, sit ups, grass drills, obstical courses, and many more team building exercises.
To be a Raider, you need to be determined, loyal, and capable of being part of a team. When Raiders do activities they do them together as a team and they never leave a Cadet behind. You work as a team, sweat as a team, and compete as a team.
Our JROTC Rifle Team consists of some of the best sharp shooters of our Battalion. Each Cadet on Rifle Team is taught how to safely handle rifles and how to shoot at a specific target. We go up against other JROTC programs and the winner is determined by how many points are made by how well the Cadet shot.
Academic Team is the academic part of the JROTC program. Cadets meet after school to study for a state wide test that is given on a particular date. Then after the test has been graded then the Academic Team is ranked on their grade on the state wide test. This team promotes good grades and more emphasize on education in JROTC.
Crusader Team assists the community and a college driven Cadet at the same time. Our Cadets go out and serve the community and assist those who need our help in either setting up an activiity or whatever the community needs for us to do. At the same time a Cadet who future after high school is to go to college, can earn numerous community service hours to go towards a scholarship. Cadets will also participate in public speaking and educating upcoming Cadets in the local middle schools.
When you are a Crusader, you willl be consider a role model for the community and are expected to be respectful to anybody you come across.
