ABOUT FALCON
• Precision Claimstaking - comlete with all necessary paperwork, maps and exact geodetic coordinates of all corners and location monuments. Ask us how we can "permanently" mark the position of your monument in the field.
• Conflicting Claim Survey - if you are uncertain about the "exact" land position held by others in your vicinity, Falcon prides itself in finding old claim posts and putting them on your maps and into your GIS database.
• Re-Monument Existing Claims - today's 2" x 2" wooden claim posts are easily knocked down and/or broken by animals and they lack the visibility and longevity of the older 4" PVC and 4" x 4" wooden posts used in the past. Falcon can replace your old claim posts and provide you with accurate geodetic coordinates for each monument.
• Patent Corner Survey - survey of historic patent corners and Mineral Monuments complete with copies of original survey documents for your records. Don't risk locating invalid claims around patented ground because the true location of a patent corner is unknown.
• Accurate Registration of Local Grids to Geodetic Coordinates - this includes "best geodetic fit" to legacy local grids where sufficient grid registration points remain on the ground. This service is especially useful for transforming legacy data into GIS-compatible files.
• Sub-Centimeter Drill Collar Surveys - complete with maps and sub-centimeter geodetic and/or grid coordinates.
• Custom "Concrete and Brass Cap" Benchmarks - constructed at convenient project location to sub-centimeter standards.
• Custom Local Grids - grid control points surveyed to sub-centimeter accuracy and corrected for Height Above Ellipsoid (HAE) errors commonly encountered when working between geodetic coordinates and local grid coordinates.
• Drainage Sediment and Soil Grid Sample Collection - you can trust Falcon to collect your sediment and soil reconnaissance samples exactly as you specify and deliver them to you or your laboratory with accurate geodetic coordinates. We can take the drudgery out of your reconnaissance programs by providing randomized sample order for improved data quality and by providing you with a "mater list" that keys sample numbers to their geodetic coordinates.
• Custom Geodetic Conversions - Falcon employs the most current technology available for batch conversion between all internationally recognized grid and geodetic coordinate systems. We can also provide batch conversions of legacy local grid coordinates to "best fit" geodetic or grid coordinates where accurate reference positions are known.
• Location and Remediation of Hazardous Conditions - Falcon can bring you into full compliance with existing government regulations for abandoned historic mine workings.
We use state-of-the-art Trimble GPS equipment for all our work and we always provide our customers a complete list of geodetic coordinates in the system of their choice for every job we do. Our GPS equipment ranges from highly portable sub-meter handheld recievers to advanced sub-centimeter RTK systems. This allows us to provide the full range of accuracy required by ourcustomers and the portability required for the safety and efficiency of our employees.
We have chosen Mapinfo Professional for our GIS work and all our projects are laid out using this platform augmented by specialized software tools. When measuring or projecting geodetic distances, our unique geodetic tools allow us to accurately compensate for "elevation effects" not accounted for in currently available commercial software. We have chosen Blue Marble's Geographic Calculator for coordinate transformation, local grid to geodetic conversions and calculation of the Grid Scale Factor.
Claimstaking projects are laid out in Mapinfo and checked against the most current GCDB data available for current land status. Additionally, we use Public Data Services' PLC tool to query current LR2000 data to determine any potential conflicts with active claims. If potential conflicts are found we notify our customer prior to beginning the job to verify that they are aware of the potential conflicts and to determine if any additional research is required before proceeding. We believe that these additional steps add an important measure of quality for our customersvand help avoid expensive mistakes.
When the accuracy of RTK is required for a project we can erect a "concrete and brass cap" geodetic benchmark at a convenient location on the property. These benchmarks are accurate to less than plus/minus 1 centimeter X/Y and less than plus /minus 2 centimeters Z. The coordinates of benchmarks are computed using the OPUS solution (Online Positioning User Services) with data processed during the optimal time window.
