Welcome to Zeta Epsilon's website!
The Zeta Epsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded at Lawrence University in 1981. We currently have 41 members in our chapter. We represent all areas of academia from classical guitar performance, to art history, to classics, to physics. We are involved in all sorts of extracurricular activities, including SOUP, Mock Trial, AM Theatre, swim team, soccer, and much more.
We celebrate diversity and independence in conjunction with bonding as sisters. We think we are a pretty unique group of women and we hope you will think so too!

Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded October 13, 1870, at Monmouth College, Monmouth, Illinois. Kappa is considered a women's fraternity because the word "sorority" was not coined until after our founding.
Though the coeducational college was considered progressive at the time, the women were dissatisfied with the fact that while men enjoyed membership in fraternities, women had no such equivalent organizations for companionship, support and advancement, and were instead limited to literary societies.
Kappa's six Founders were exceptional young women who believed they could take on the world and create something totally new. Minnie Stewart, Anna Willits, Susan Walker, Jeannie Boyd, Lou Bennett and Lou Stevenson declared their intent to form a new kind of fraternity by marching into the college chapel, the most public place on campus, wearing golden keys in their hair. Today we celebrate this day in history as Founder's Day.
Taught to love learning and literature, these educated ladies not only originated the idea of Kappa Kappa Gamma but wrote its constitution, planned its motto and chose its badge and name. From there they began to seek "the choicest spirits among the girls, not only for literary work, but also for social development."
Since then, Kappa has continued to grow, and is now one of the largest chapters in the National Panhellenic Conference with over 235,800 initiated members!
As one of three sororities at Lawrence University, Kappa Kappa Gamma is part of a vary tight knit Panhellenic community. We currently have 41 members of our chapter.
Zeta Epsilon represents a large variety of majors and minors that are offered at Lawrence including:
Outside of Kappa members are very active in the campus community.

Zeta Epsilon Philanthropy
Zeta Epsilon believes in reaching out to the local community first. A majority of our fundraisers and philanthropy events are geared towards benefiting the local Appleton Harbor House, a shelter to help women in need. Our second philanthropy is Kappa Kappa Gamma's national philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF), an organization dedicated to making our nation a 100% literate one. More can be found about our philanthropies at the following links:

Philanthropy Events
Our chapter holds several philanthropy events throughout the year. In the fall, we sell homemade caramel apples at the Lawrence Homecoming football game to raise money for Harbor House. In the winter, during the second round of recruitment, we make various items for either Harbor House (gift bags or coloring books) or for RIF (bookcases). In the spring, we hope to host a local golf tournament to raise a significant amount for RIF. Stay tuned for more information!
