The main type of music in Spain is Flamenco. Flamenco is the traditional song and dance of the gypsies of southern Spain. The music developed over a couple of centuries from Gypsy, Moorish and Andalusian backgrounds. However, it only started to become popular in the 19th century, where it was used for entertainment in cafes. Flamenco has three forms: grande or hondo (“grand” or “deep”): melancholy, intense songs, intermedio (“intermediate”), moderately intense, semi -serious, and pequeo (“small”), light, songs of love and nature.
