So what does Sandwell Young Carers mean to its workers?Sandwell young carers gives the chance for workers to work with many wonderful families. It also gives them the experience of working with young people. The long serving workers have watched it expand from strength to strength with the help of funding and donations, and they hope that if the donations and funding continues they will continue their largely successful job of supporting young carers as a Registered Charity. The staff make great friends for example; the collegues - they work for or with, and all these people combined make Sandwell Young Carers a great place to work. Within S.Y.C there are many different jobs that take place in order for the charity to run smoothly, from Voluntary workers to the Cheif Executive. Another job within the Sandwell charity is that of the Assessment and Support Manager, this is the job that manages all the newly referred Young Carers, the accreditations that take place and the supervision of the work service. Volunteering is another job that takes place within the charity, well a volunteer speaks for itself. If a charity can get Volunteers then obviously Sandwell Young Carers must be doing a good job, in conjunction to that most of the volunteers that Sandwell Young Carers have are past members at the Charity and Carers themselves. But What does sandwell Young Carers mean to them? For the Volunteers they see it as the chance to give something back. Because Young Carers is only suitable for 5-18 years olds when the Young Carers become 18 they have to leave. Many of them decide to stop on as voluntary workers so therefore they get the chance to give something back to the organisation that helped them. Another job would be that of the Administration Manager and Building Manager combined, this job in particular covers Personnel, Recruitment, Training, Duty rota, Transport, Events, Supervision of Admin Worker and Building Maintenance in line with Health & Safety. But of course what do they get out of it?The workers get a real 'enthusiasm and inspiration from working with the Young People.' Also the young people are an inspiration to the workers because the young people are the ones that achieve wondeful things whilst being a part of Young Carers, they don't necassarily at the Young Carers but at school as well. Another thing they get out of working at S.Y.C is the happiness they get from being a part of it. The works get a lot of satisfaction from doing their job and feel that what they do is worthwhile for the members that access the services offered. What makes Sandwell Young Carers Unique?Well apart from being the first Young Carers set up in England, Sandwell Young Carers were the first to open a centre and still own there on building till this day. Another unique selling point of S.Y.C is the fact that it is a local organisation to people in Sandwell. Young carers is just unique in general as it gives young pepole the chance to express themselves and know that they have a place to turn to if they need it.
