Sandwell Young Carer's Forum is where a group of young carers and ex-members take it upon themselves to organise meetings on a regular basis to discuss ways of improving SYC and look at issues which affect young carers.The Forum Chairman told us that when he first joined forum it was due to the fact he wanted to change some things about SYC and make improvements. Now after a couple of months of being chairman he is happy with some of the changes he has witnessed, e.g. new workshops helping him have his ideas heard. Even though the forum only started a few months ago it is making an impact. The forum of young carers work in partnership with Tracey, the Chief Executive, and the board in developing the service provision. They have been influencial in the introduction of a young carers strategy in Sandwell, lobbying ministers and loacls mp's, working with officers and councillors on the childrens - yp scrutiny panel to look at the young carers services in the borough of Sandwell. During 2008 they evaluated the services provided by SYC and published their findings.
