Yoi Tanabe is a true citizen of the world. Raised in Zambia while a resident of Japan, she traveled the continents of Africa, Asia, and Europe throughout her childhood with an adventurous family. Acquiring perspectives and tastes unique to each region, Yoi sensed early on that her personal beliefs and style would be broadly influenced by many different cultures, each offering valuable insight to the surrounding world. Upon her return to Japan, Yoi was an instant hit amongst the modeling community who were eager to adopt fresh styles into the traditionally homogeneous market. Yoi fulfilled the demand superbly, and was soon encouraged to move beyond modeling and critique the industry a manner befitting an increasingly global community. Growing restless in one world, Yoi again decided to move abroad, this time seeking a university education in the United States. She settled in Houston, Texas, a stark change from the Tokyo megatropolis, but vowed to use her new environment to influence the community for the better. Yoi became an active member of the regional SPCA, championing the rights of animals and educating people about the issues. She is a devoted member, and their cause remains close to Yoi’s heart.
After experiencing all the Tex-Mex, barbecue, and cowboy fashion she could handle, Yoi again sought an international audience and moved to Los Angeles to continue her fashion career. Invigorated by the scene, Yoi joined Music Plus TV in the summer of 2005 to continue her passion with global style and cause.
She most recently appeared on NBC’s hit show “Deal or No Deal” as a series regular suitcase model and reported for Championship Gaming Series (CGS) on DIRECTV. CGS is an international video gaming league which broadcast to over 100 million homes worldwide.
