WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE GYPSIES SUPPORTERS TRUSTWho are you?We are a combination of concerned fans / members of Bohemians FC, a group called the Gypsies Supporters Trust & Save our Boh's - both set up by fans of the club, and ordinary, match going fans; people probably a lot like you. We're also receiving advice from the experts as well. Supporters Direct, the Europe-wide body that advises fans and fan-owned football clubs on the best ways to run themselves, are supporting our campaign. They represent around 250,000 members of fan-owned clubs and supporters' trusts all over Europe, and have had significant success in England, Scotland, Italy, Sweden, and Germany - over twenty countries.In Ireland they helped out Cork City reform in 2009 as a fan-owned, democratic football club; they're working with Dundalk fans on a takeover of their club; and they've been advising the Galway United Supporters Trust since 2010 on the financial situation at the club they currently run.What are you trying to do?We trying to work to change the club by ending the madness of the last ten years - the overspending, the failed land deals, but also the lack of planning, communication from board level, the old 'them and us'. We're realistic enough to know that it's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication from all of us, and a lot of bridge building, but we want a new way of owning and running the club. The club that we all support. There's nothing wrong with the fans being in control, but it hasn't been done the right way. And now it's time for a change.A club is more than just the directors, the players, and the manager. As much as we respect the players and managers, they come and go. As fans, we're here year in, year out. It's a community thing.And how do you propose to do that?By all reasonable means. The will work with anyone who agrees with us that Bohemians doesn't have to be in a state of constant crisis, of living hand to mouth. It's going to be tough, and the financial picture doesn't look good at the moment, but we believe that if we can all pull together then things can change. But we can't do it on a wing and a prayer; we're working on financial, business planning, all the areas we believe are important to address, and we think you might be able to help.Where are you getting your money from?The solution doesn't lie in finding someone with money. That rarely works anyway. And if it did, we would have found that person by now. It's about being prepared to make the tough decisions now, so that our club not only survives, but thrives for years to come.The solution lies in dealing with the debt we have, cutting our cloth accordingly, and rebuilding the club from the bottom up. There is no quick fix, there will be no white knight coming to rescue us. We have to pull together. It's up to all of us to play our part.So what do you want me to do?The best think you can do is to contact the Gypsies Supporters Trust, giving us your name, contact details, and what you think you have to offer; it might be financial, legal or other professional expertise; you might be a communications, marketing or PR professional; you might just want to offer your time to organise events, even man the turnstiles on a match day.
