Adobe Illustrator's native file format. It is primarily vector based although later versions, such as versions 6.0 and 7.0, support bitmap information. This is the format in which your logo will be created and edited.
Joint Photographic Experts Group is commonly used on the Web for photographs and other continuous-tone images in which one color blends seamlessly into another.
Portable Network Graphics was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not for professional-quality print graphics, and therefore does not support CMYK color. Transparency is available, and disk storage is minimal. Preferred format for web images.
Bitmap files may be used in a large variety of software applications, such as Adobe Photoshop, Photo Paint or many other programs. They can be opened in most word processing applications such as Microsoft Word and many Web design programs.
Encapsulated PostScript can contain both vector and bitmap graphics and is supported by virtually all graphic, illustration, and page-layout programs. Due to unlimited resolution, your logo can be used at any size without degradation. Preferred format for print.
Adobe Photoshop's native bitmap file format. This file format is popular as it can be read by Macintosh and Windows computers. Files in this format can be opened in Adobe Illustrator.
Graphics Interchange was designed to use a minimum of disk space and be easily read and exchanged between computers. This format is commonly used to publish images of 256 colors or less to the Internet. This format is used mostly for web.
Tagged Image File Format and EPS are the two most widely accepted image formats for commercial printing. TIFF files can be produced directly by most desktop scanners and many digital cameras.
