Every winter, in particular, at Christmas, millions of people get into a celebratory mode. They participate in the rituals of the seasons celebration - many not knowing why. However, a yearning for that hope and joy Christmas seems to promise propels them on. Unfortunately, many are left disappointed at the end because the glory their hearts longed for appears to had only been a fantasy out of reach and only captured by fairytale stories about Santa. On the other hand, many who know the reason for the season, get into a complaining spirit, offended that the world is pushing Christ out of Christmas. As some would say, 'Santa has hijacked Christmas'. This offense lead them into a wrong attitude of aggression (them vs. us, or us against them), failing to see and seize the wonderful opportunity to point people to that Bright and Shining Star of whom an angel from God proclaimed, "... I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a savior, who is Christ the Lord"- Luke 2:10-11.This Christmas, let us not be sidetracked by foolish and unfruitful debates that turn many into the enemies of those they are to reach with love. "... and he that wins souls is wise" - Proverbs 11:30. Let's receive from the Father's heart, compassion for fallen and broken humanity. This is the heart of The Winter Outreach Project. Embracing this opportunity to be used by our heavenly Father to point souls to the Bright and Morning Star, Jesus Christ, that they too may experience that joy unspeakable and full of glory, which is by far greater than any fantasy the mind could ever dream up.
