Background History
The rebuilding of the Talbot in the 1600s brought with it an infamous ghost Mary Queen of Scotts. Mary is reportedly the best documented ghost of all of Britain.
Mary ruled Scotland when her father James V sadly passed away in 1542. Mary was next in line for the thrown if you discounted her cousin Elizabeth; who was illegitimate, but was found guilty of treason when Queen Elizabeth decided that she was a threat. She was therefore imprisoned in the tower of Fotheringhay Castle for 18 years, until the day she was executed in 1587. The castle has since been torn down.
In the Talbots rebuilding, Mary is said to haunt the staircase and two bedrooms, which could be linked to the staircase she descended on her way to her execution.

The investigation...
9.15pm Arrival
We arrived at the Talbot Hotel inn at 9.15pm. After a warm welcome from the staff we were showed upstairs to Mary queen of Scotts room and the additional room next door where Philip and Stephen designated as the hub for the nights investigation.
10.20pm
Mandy put everyone into two groups, Group A and B. After this we went for a preliminary walk around before conducting our investigation. Philip and Stephen set up a locked off camera on the bottom of the staircase and Chris placed a locked off camera on the stairs due to the amount of paranormal activity in this main area.
Group A Stephanie, Katrina, Adam and Michelle
Group B Mandy, Corrine, Barbara and Gary
Stephen, Philip and Chris floated between the groups for individual investigation.
Group A
Group A started off their investigation in Mary Queen of Scotts bedroom where they first set up a digital voice recorder. After spending 40 minutes in the room they finished with minimal activity. The only activity received were minimal orbs on the camcorders and cameras.
Group B
Group B started off their investigation in the Whitwell suite where they had a very strong reading on the E.M.F meter. They also heard a number of noises which they said sounded as if someone was walking towards them. After discussing the activity in the room, most of group B had the same reading on their E.M.F meter and had heard the same noise.
After spending 40 minutes in the room and finishing their investigation, group B left stating the room had high activity.
11.00pm
After all the investigations had finished every one in the group entered the Hub to discuss feedback about the different rooms they had just investigated.
12.00
Whilst discussing feedback, Stephen heard a noise that he described as a pebble hitting the wall behind him. Some of the group checked the surrounding area in the direction the noise came from, but could not find a reasonable explanation for this occurrence. No object that could possibly have made that noise was found.
1am
Katrina, Chris and Stephen made their way to the staircase for a lone vigil, which was interrupted by the night porter hovering the stairwell. So this vigil was abandoned. The entire group joined in the Hub for one final Vigil. We discussed the nights activities and went over voice recorders for any signs of EVP, which there were non, except for the pinging noise which was the noise Stephen heard he said which was something hitting the wall; This we cannot explain.
2am
The group packed up their equipment, made their way back down the stairwell, took a few extra photos and spoke to the night porter. We gave the porter the room keys and then left the building, whilst taking pictures all the way to the car park.
Conclusion
During the investigation of Talbot Hotel, the team encountered multiple paranormal occurrences. Many of which could not easily be explained. Therefore we feel that Talbot Hotel would require further investigation with our full team and all of our technical equipment to try to prove or disprove the many types of phenomena we encountered.
