Clubs and ActivitiesExtra-Curricular Activities & ClubsStudents participate in a variety of clubs throughout the school year. Activities are offered two times a week, and students are able to attend a total of six clubs each school year. All of our extra-curricular activities allow students to interact with children and teachers from other classrooms. Clubs provide students with an excellent opportunity to share, socialize and develop new talents. Clubs may be on or off campus and include: student council, ice hockey, bowling, tennis, golf, baking, photography, arts and crafts, chess, Lego, hip hop, yoga, as well as a variety of other opportunities based on student interest.Activity DaysAt least ten days a year are designated as activity days. On these days, the whole school breaks from routine to attend special events and activities. Activities include on-site theatre group productions, play day and off-site field trips.HomeworkHomework and Study HallAt Wildwood Academy, we believe that children should spend their after-school hours with family and friends. Our extended school day allows students to complete their coursework in the classroom. Homework is reserved for extra practice and limited to weekdays. We are confident that all of our students will achieve academic success and still have time for fun. Study Hall runs Monday - Thursday The fees for each session are as follows: Grade 2 Grades 3 â€“- 4 Grades 5 - 8Session 1: September - December $475.00 $650.00 $800.00Session 2: January - March $350.00 $450.00 $550.00Session 3: March - June $425.00 $575.00 $725.00Students NOT registered for the study hall program should be picked up at the regular dismissal time of 3:50P.M. If NOT picked up by 4:00 P.M., students will be admitted into the appropriate study hall and the dailyrate will be applied. Daily child care rates will be implemented if students are not picked up within 15minutes of final dismissal time. There is no homework and therefore no study hall program following an all-day field trip or on any Thursday prior to a Friday holiday. Parent InvolvementParent ParticipationParental involvement is an important part of our program at Wildwood Academy. We keep our parents well informed about their child's progress. Classroom teachers meet with every family several times per year to set goals and discuss programming. Parents are welcome to be active members of the school community. Wildwood Academy has partnered with Canada eSchool, an Ontario online high school.The goal of the program is to familiarize students with the materials and expectations of the Ontario high school curriculum. Successful completion of the course will result in the achievement of course credit recorded on the student's Ontario Student Record. Students in the program will have daily hour long blocks scheduled into their timetable when they may access the course material and complete lessons and assignments. Students will be supported by a Wildwood teacher in their learning while all of the course content and assessments are administered by the teachers at Canada eSchools. Students will be able to complete the course work anywhere with online access, including their home.
