Rachel Farinelli runs the one-woman show for her "rootsy" business,
Affinitas Apothecary. Depending on the time of day, you will find her in the Apothecary chopping roots and herbs, or possibly blending the formulas for her tinctures, ointments, teas and oils. Come spring and all the way through fall, she enjoys wandering the foothills and the mountains, wild crafting local herbs,
or tending to her herbs sustainably grown around town.
Rachel's passion for healing through herbs stems back to her early childhood, during which a seed was planted and grew as she increasingly sought to feed her curiosity by helping heal her own ailments. Via books, discussion groups, mentors, and self-discovery, Rachel learned the basics of farming and herbs in verdant places from Northern California to Italy. In California she attended The California School of Herbal Studies where she further developed through formal training with many amazing herbalists like world renown David Hoffmann and sapient Gail Julian, artisan medicine makers, Karen Aguiar and Terri Jensen, herbal gardener Leslie Gardener, as well as the botanist
and wild crafting mentor, Autumn Summers.
Within the wonderful community of Fort Collins, Rachel has found a blessed home full of friends and family. She chooses to share her craft here, where you can find her herbs at local markets and at the nook of the Abundant Wellness Center. She also blends person-specific formulas for local practitioners. With the coming springs new growth, Rachel will be teaching classes and giving guided walks, extending her knowledge to people who are interested in empowering themselves through greater understanding of plant medicine, in turn, allowing them to more confidently take health into their own hands. She believes this is part of our birthright, and everyone should have the opportunity to know how to soothe a sore stomach or a hacking cough.
