West Texas Dwarf Cars
How it all started
Dwarf Car racing in Rankin was introduced in the most unlikely place, North of Sanderson, Tx. in the lower Pecos River area at Kelvin Chandler's ranch. Gary Jackson was unloading cotton seed at Kelvin's ranch in 2005 while noticing the dwarf cars. Kelvin then asked Gary if he would be interested in buying the #24 car. Gary called his brother Joe Jackson and asked if he would go in partnership with a dwarf car. Joe, Kelvin, and Gary raced with TDCA for a couple of years together but the bad economy and skyrocketing fuel prices, nobody could afford traveling to South Texas every weekend. At the beginning of this year, the 3 decided to build a practice track at Gary's farm North of Rankin, then they met at the Jackson shop with a few locals and the group went from 3 cars in Feb. to 13 cars in July. The West Texas Dwarf Cars are like a family and enjoy the time we are able to spend together.
