About UsFor over 75 years, United Methodist campus ministries have served the San Diego State University campus. La Mesa United Church of Christ, United Methodist congregations, United Methodist Women, alumni and friends support this ministry.Some students met and found a life partner here. Some students defined their career or life goals. Other students loved the activities or grew their spiritual life, found healing or help developed leadership skills or graduated and moved far away. Staff and faculty have been nurtured.God and Jesus have been real in people's lives.We continue these traditions, now breaking new ground for a new generation. Our hearts and minds are open.We don't tell you what to think or do, but we are a resource to help you with your process. We hold informal mid-week worship and devotions with lunch during the semester. We engage in sharing about our lives and the ways God is stretching and growing us. We use Bible texts and prayer. What kinds of support are available for students, faculty and staff? We realize the importance of confidentiality. You can call 619-582-0772 and make and individual appointment. You can ask some friends to join you in forming a support group and work with Wesley Foundation Ministries to get it going. Do you have recovery groups? Alcoholics Anonymous is invited to start a new group here. Wesley Foundation has hosted groups for more than twenty years. Would you be willing to pray for me? Yes. THE WESLEY, serving San Diego college studentsFounded in 1934, the Wesley Foundation has been helping students. For thirty years, it has provided affordable student housing and alternative living opportunities for people committed to learning, community service and freedom from addiction, abuse and violence. Wesley Foundation Ministries expanded its student housing program by starting Wesley House Student Residence, a public non-profit corporation. Wesley House Student Residence is developer and builder of The Wesley and a partner providing programs to serve the campus.The planned new facility, The WESLEY, will feature a 40-bed residence for low income students, the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry, and the Hayes Academic Success Center. A Prayer for Today God, when life is busy, when decisions are hard, When I just dont want to face one more thing,Give me strength for today.Give me calm with which to face my anxieties.Give me focus for my studies.Give me an open heart to hear someone elses point of view.Give me patience to hear repeated what someone already said to me before.Give me energy for the race.Give me motivation to move toward the goals you have given me. And God, heres the deal. I have asked a lot, and you give me so much. I give you thanks for food.I give you gratitude for my blessings.I give you thanks for all the people who love me.I give you my attentionso that you can let me know what I need to hear, and I can follow through with what you ask.Thank you God.Amen. A Prayer for Graduation and Transition God, as students graduate, we pray for each one who celebrates a goal reached, a degree achieved, and a life dream met. As families and friends gather to celebrate, we pray for all of those present and absent from that circle of love and friendship. Keep each graduate in your love and care. Give each one courage to take the next steps of transition and support to go through changes. As students leave campus, fill their goodbyes with hope and trust in you. Give each student eyes and ears to see beyond themselves and what is visible to the love, compassion, and justice you use to guide the world. Amen. A Prayer for This Nation God, in too many ways this nation is in trouble.People are being laid off from work.Businesses are closing.We pray for graduating seniors who are going to have a hard time finding jobs.We pray for people who, suddenly, dont have a paycheck.We pray for children, families and persons who need food and shelter.
