Hidden objects, simulation and casino games: those were the
most popular social games on Facebook in 2011
, according to a list released by the social networking site. The list is dominated by Zynga, but the two top slots were conquered by Disney Playdom's "Gardens of Time" and Electronic Arts' "The Sims Social", respectively.
According to Facebook, the average game player played more than three different gaming titles each month, and more than half the days they visited the site.

Facebook and Yelp to lead biggest Internet IPOs year since 1999
Facebook and Yelp are set to lead the biggest year for U.S. initial public offerings by Internet companies since 1999 (just before the dot-com bubble burst), testing demand for IPOs after investors lost money on Zynga and Pandora Media.
According to data compiled by Bloomberg, with Facebook and at least 14 other Web-related companies planning sales, the industry may raise $11 billion in 2012 – the most since $18.5 billion in IPOs in 1999.

Credit Suisse: 2012 will be the breakout year for WP7
Credit Suisse analyst Kulbinder Garcha told Forbes that Microsoft’s Windows Phone will become the third major smartphone platform in 2012, consequently raising his rating on Nokia from Underperform to Outperform.
The prediction is based partially on a survey of 27 executives at global carriers, which found them "widely supportive" of Windows Phone 7 and Nokia in general. The survey also found that “both subsidy and volume share is expected to be markedly higher for Windows Phone over the next 12 months”.

Instagram now allows to post full-size pictures on Facebook
Free photo-sharing app Instagram has added a tweak that allows users to upload full-size pictures to their Facebook Timeline.
Photos shared from Instagram will appear in the user’s Timeline with the original caption that was posted on Instagram, as well as a link to the public Instagram URL. All photos posted from Instagram will end up in a special “Instagram photos” Facebook album.

Congress sends letter to Apple questioning Path debacle, developer data access
Having been the subject of questions regarding its collection of user locations in the past, Apple has been sent a letter over concerns that developers may be accessing and storing user data on its products.
House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman and Commerce Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee Chair G.K. Butterfield sent a letter to Apple on Wednesday, following complaints that the smartphone application Path was collecting address book data and storing it on remote servers without permission.
In a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the legislators state: “This incident raises questions about whether Apple’s iOS app developer policies and practices may fall short when it comes to protecting the information of iPhone users and their contacts”.
