Living in a non-Muslim society and bringing up your children according to your religious beliefs and traditions are very daunting and challenging tasks indeed. The Muslim Educational Trust established in 1966 has taken up this challenge of catering for the Islamic educational needs of the British Muslim children and advising their parents on how to bring up their children in a un- Islamic materialistic society.
Education is a process through which children are prepared for life by enabling them to acquire training and skills so that they can face different situations in their life.
Islamic education prepares children for this dunya (this world) and the life in the Akhirah by developing their total personality.Since it's inception The Muslim Educational Trust has been providing practical help and advice to British education authorities, schools, educational bodies, Muslim parents and non Muslim teachers, and a host of other people involved in education about the general and Islamic needs of Muslim pupils in British schools.
The MET's outstanding success was the preparation of GCSE religious Education (ISLAM ) syllabus as a fully fledged examination subject and getting the syllabus approved by the then SEAC( Secondary Examinations and Assessment Council) and introduced by the erstwhile University of London Examinations and Assessment Council(ULEAC now EDEXCEL) . More than twenty five thousand pupils have so far taken the Exam under this syllabus.
At present MET concentrates in publishing and selling its popular books and posters. The book Islam for younger people is being animated and will soon be available.
The Muslim Educational Trust is run and managed by a Board of Five Trustees:
Prof Ghulam Sarwar (Chairman) Dr A B M Nazem,Dr S M S. Husain, Dr. F. N Arefin, Dr Z. Huq.
