Mayhill School In Mayhill NM
was an active school from 1882 to 1960.
The White School was built in 1914. After closing as a school, it functioned as a community center unitl it's demolition in 1986.
On May 1, 2010 approximatley 100 alumni, teachers and Mayhill Volunteer Fire Department personnel and community members gathered to dedicate a new playground built by the Fire Department and the Mayhill community. The playground was dedicated to the teachers and students of the Mayhill School.
To the best of our knowledge he oldest attending student Mabel (Dockray) Hooten is in her eartly 90's, her sister Glynn (Dockray) Tunnel was the next oldest, then Charlie Clayton and his sister Floye (Clayton ) Adkisson, who are both in their late 80's.
The "youngest" alumni were Shari Adkisson, Marsha (Clayton) MacArthur and Erva Jo (Adkisson) Yarborough who are considerably younger and attended Mayhill School in 1959.
