About

Mission Statement

To provide an accessible, inclusive, safe, supportive dance space to enhance education and training in dance as well as social events in a fun and friendly atmosphere while offering members a patronage return for their investment in their dance interests at the WDC Inc.

Who we are

The Winnipeg Dance Cooperative Inc. (WDC Inc.) has been established as a non-profit self-sustaining, environmentally friendly, community service effort, incorporated in January 2008.

Where dId we come from?

The vision of the WDC began in October of 2007, when Andrea Kraj returned to Winnipeg to find a lack of positive energy surrounding the Latin Dance scene in Winnipeg. With a strong desire for access to a sustainable, safe, stable, and nurturing environment for Latin Dance in Winnipeg, Andrea posed the idea of such an initiative to some of the local dancers in the Latin Dance scene, and a trial period of Friday Night Dancehall was held in November of 2007. With the great interest and success of this endeavor, the decision to incorporate followed and in January 2008, the Winnipeg Dance Cooperative Inc. was established. Today we are still a growing community of dancers, bringing a positive and unique dance experience to downtown Winnipeg.

Why a Cooperative?

Our intere st as dancers is about the dance. We are a small community in Winnipeg and we know we need to work together if we want to maintain and grow it. With a jointly owned endeavor we can start working for a place to call our own, and through ownership we can share in the direction of the cooperative while sustainably investing in our dance community!

We've danced just about every dance... and these are the instructors that volunteered their time to teach us how to dance. Most of our guest dance instructors hold their own weekly dance lesson or even run their own dance company. If you enjoyed learning how to dance with an instructor at Friday Night Dance Hall, then you should check out their regular classes as well!
