Who are the North Texas Dancers?

The North Texas Dancers are a group of twenty girls of all different ages and degrees but they all have something in common; they love dancing and UNT. Auditions are held every May.

The director, Jennifer Cloutier, is now entering her twenty-fthird season as the dance team director and choreographer. She has always instilled in her team a sense of pride for their university and they make many appearances to support it. Representing and supporting UNT are the main goals for the North Texas Dancers.

They are well known for energetic performances and their ability to entertain an audience. They have a very unique style of dancing by combining jazz, pom and hip hop.

During football season the dancers practice 4 days a week and perform at pep rallies on Friday night at Clark Park. On game days, they practice, tailgate and participate in pre game all before the football players even set foot on the field.

During basketball season they cheer alongside the court, dance during timeouts and perform hip hop or pom routines during halftime at every men and womens home basketball game.

They also travel and perform at playoff tournaments. The dancers do many appearances and promotions in Denton as well as in the Dallas Metroplex.

The Dancers compete every year in Denton at the American Dance and Drill Team competition that is held at the super pit in March - tin 2010 we recieved 1st place in Division 1A! Last year along with competing at ADTS , we attended National Collegiate Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida. In 2009, we qualified for finals for the first time in North Texas Dancer history and placed 4th in Division 1A! This year in Daytona, we had an injury occur the week before and still made finals and placed 6th in our division!

A North Texas Dancer schedule is a busy one but they love it! The Dancers look forward to seeing you at the next home football and basketball games. Go Mean Green!

Jennifer Cloutier

Jennifer Cloutier has been the Director and Choreographer for the NT Dancers for 23 years. She received the title while still attending UNT and pursuing a Degree in Dance. She was an NT Song leader for 2 years.

Jennifer is a former Kansas City Chiefette, Dallas Maverick Dancer, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, Arena Football Cheerleader, and Dallas Burn Dancer and Choreographer.

She has choreographed for pageants, industry shows and many catalogs for Body wrappers. Currently Jennifer works for MA Dance, instructing and judging regional and national dance competitions.

2012-2013 NTD Auditions will be held

May 5-May 6

Saturday (May 5) - Doors open at 9:30am . Clinic will begin at 10am end at 1:00pm

Sunday (May 6) - Doors open at 9:00am. Auditions will begin at 10am end at 3:00pm

Audition Location: UNT Volleyball Gym

Located in Mean Green Village

To Auditions, you must bring the following:

Up to date grade transcript

UNT Acceptance letter (entering freshmen only)

$20 application fee (non refundable)

A copy of your insurance card (front & back)

Open Rehearsal (May 5)

You will learn across the floor technique, fight song with kickline and a jazz/hip hop routine. You will receive your number. We will finish around 1pm. This is an open rehearsal so parents, family members, boyfriends are allowed. Wear whatever you like, but you never know who is watching!

Closed Auditions (May 6)

You will be given your audition number and your picture will be taken. You will have until 10am to review all choreography. There will be call backs, so don't leave the building after you have auditioned. After call backs will be interviews. Not every candidate will have an interview.

Attire:

Please wear a crop top, hot pants, tights and dance sneakers, paws or jazz shoes. No running shoes. Wear your hair down, no pony tails. No jewelry. Please cover tattoos.

Prep Classes

NTD Prep Classes will begin Wednesday, March 7! You will be doing across the floor technique including leaps, turns and kicks. You will also be learning a jazz/hip-hop combination and performing for each other! The classes will be every Wednesday (exluding March 21) from 6:30pm-7:30pm in the UNT P.E. Building (PEB) up until auditions! Each class is $10 (CASH non-refundable) to attend. The PEB is located at 1921 Chestnut Street, Denton Texas. The classes wll be held on the first floor basketball courts. The last prep class (May 2) is highly recommended for you to attend - a few current NTD's will be giving a mock audition including almost exactly what you will be doing and wearing for auditions the following weekend!

The North Texas Dancers will be competing/performing at the annual American Dance/Drill Team (ADTS) competition held at the UNT Coliseum on March 26, 2011. We will be competing in the collegiate division, and will also have a recruiting table set up on the main concourse of the Coliseum for prospective dancers. Last year, the NTD won 1st place in the collegiate division! Come support the NTD and don't forget to stop by our table!
