The UCI Equestrian Team accepts riders of all levels, from beginner to advanced. You do not need to own a horse to participate, horses and tack are provided! Competition is optional and any riders not wishing to compete can ride just for the fun of it! The team trains out of the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center, which is about 20 minutes from campus. If transportation is an issue carpooling with other team members can be worked out. We also arrange meetings and 'events' to get together outside of competitions! Come join the fun!

Page 3 Tina Davey
Tina Davey has been the coach for the UC Irvine Equestrian team since its
start in 2007. She enjoys helping the team and its individual riders grow in
their riding and become a competitive force at both the Regional and Zone
levels within the IHSA. Besides coaching the team, Tina has been a trainer
at Elvenstar in Orange County since 2006. Through her work at Elvenstar,
Tina has become a part of a team of trainers who have sent riders to top placings at both the local, regional, and national levels. Before working for
Elvenstar Tina rode for the UC Santa Cruz Equestrian Team and competed on
the "A" show circuit in Northern California.

In each show a rider competes in one to two classes; one flat class and one over fences class. A rider may choose to compete in both classes or just one or the other, based on skill level.

We encourage new members to train with our coach, Tina Davey, out of the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center. However if you are already training with someone that's fine too! You can continue to train with that person as long as they sign off that you are riding for at least one hour per week.
